Defensive end is always a need vs taking a rb or linebacker, positional value wise in my humble opinion

If this means I don’t have to watch Malik herring anymore I’m in for it

That's exactly it. The "need / talent" dilemma... I also REALLY like the Nohl Williams pick. Plays well in zone and can also press. In addition to straight up talent, he seems to have other intangibles that can't be taught, like instinct. My favorite pick thus far.

I have a different habit and approach to the draft the last several years than I used to. Not from lack of interest or enjoyment but I just don’t get to watch college ball so I take a look at the weigh ins and the charts by position group. The college all star games then the combine and pro days and late players of interest who don’t get invited to the combine etc. So it’s simply height weight arm and hand length wingspan. Then YouTube highlights. Post free agency who fits to replace who you lost and who adds something you don’t currently have in the group or who just fits the prototype you’re looking for.

Last year the need for a TE with the bigger catch radius like Wiley and Cupp as a UDFA. I liked Wiley simply because of those measures. This year I thought of who is an undersized DT type like Wharton and of course Lott fits that just better arm length. From the measurements list in my mind Gillette I had the thought of under sized DE with terrible length so maybe he’s a undersized DT Wharton type we can grow on the taxi squad and didn’t bother watching his highlights. Completely off. Guy is simply a gamer it seems

The trend seems to be moving away from the obvious look like Tarzan plays like Jane types. A josh Kaindoh type I would personally drool over.

Slow off the ball/get off is the knock on him. Lots of that is from playing in a 3-3-5 as a 4i or 5 technique DE which is more of a two gapping responsibility more often than not. Getting drafted I look at the guy and think similar build to Frank Clark and like his highlights and think he belongs playing on the RE spot up or down. But in his mind he has to grow into that something new to him asking him to be more aggressive vs the strong side DE rugged type like George he was used to playing like.

He’s good and disciplined against the run. IMO he deserves the shot to start. The 2nd and 3rd and long opportunities he has to make the most of those and grow as a disruptive pass rusher

You sure got that right! ukeme eligwe Former FSU ILB. He was built similarly to Willie Gay. Both have 33 1/2” arms. Way above average for a LB so you think occasionally using as a pass rusher. He failed in KC and the NFL because he hated contact. A great moldable body of work but the mind wanted no part of the game. Strange freaking game I tell ya

Vs the falcons and 49ers Chanel got some snaps at DE standing up and that continued off and on when the matchup allowed or just a different look for a drive or two. Down in a four point as a goaline DE and the same thing blocking the field goals. 6’3 250 sub 32” arms he had no business making those plays looking through that lense of measuments. The heart drive extreme relentless just makes up for average length. Extremely explosive athlete. Big time hops too. So take the vertical jump and how plus he is there. He converts that to launch. Like drag racing. Like he knows just exactly his strengths and puts it literally all together. That dude is just a gem. Somewhat of a unicorn in his own way

This pick is going to be overlooked a little because of the bigger stories/picks it is sandwiched between, but I wouldn't be shocked if this guy has a huge impact this year.

I couldn't quite work out why he was so much lower on lots of boards. I really liked what I saw of his tape. I guess the length maybe? But his get off is WAY better than lots of guys I saw touted as better options.

Bigger Danna when Danna is at his best. Danna has played plenty of snaps at DT from his central Michigan then Michigan day continued through KC. At 6’2 255 that’s so remarkable. He has had calf pulls and strains and missed time and it makes plenty of sense why. Which coach loved Danna most? Brenden Daly. They had plenty of these different types of DL when he came over from the pats to rejoin Spags. They did a ton of DL games and stunts which came here with him. He of course has moved to coach LBs and has excelled giving his 2 cents to get his point across how they could utilize a Chenal and done a fine job developing LBs. The chemistry this coaching and scouting staffs and how well they work together is outstanding. They take risks and gambles and aren’t perfect but they are a Steelers type setup where they just make so many picks that fit and work out or a ravens type where drafting and development is just so damn easy to them. KC has a bit of both of those and damn it’s been beautiful to watch this build into great success and just continues to grow even with challenges and bumps in the road
