After the opening 2nd half Pacheco drive (33 yards on 2 carries)...they ran 2 times out of a potential 24 plays. While Mahomes/Morris were getting abused...Pacheco didn't see the ball again until their final 3 play drive...where they decided to throw a bomb on 3rd and 2.

Let's not forget that it was Pacheco's first game back. Maybe they could have run him more, maybe not. But let's face it, on first and 10, handing the ball off to Hunt right now is a fail. It's just not working.

Well I mean the Chiefs are gonna have to take the risk regardless. I loved
Troy Fautanu’s potential but recognized that he had injury history with an ACL and lisfranc. He got hurt as a rookie this year multiple times. He’s a broke dick just like Mims. That’s what makes this shit hard. Any reasonably good LT prospect is going top 15. It’s just the way it is. These guys with age or injury history just fall down the board. Either way with Humphries or one of those kids you’re risking injury history. Would rather have Humphries work out on a readable deal so we don’t blow a ton of draft capital we clearly need to reload this team. 2022 draft class is done after next year and Felix/Kingsley look like F picks. Gotta reload the roster.

Humphries has missed 44 games in his career. He's played in 98. That's nearly a third. Signing him to a long term extension as he enters his 30s would be pretty silly.

Not a victory formation. They were getting ready to line up for a short FG. The game was tied with little time remaining. Chiefs were out of timeouts. I don't remember how much time was left.

Yeah…starting to see why they elected to go for Kingsley. Trading a metric **** ton of picks to move up for a guy who never played LT in college and only had 8 starts total? Trading up for a guy who had multiple serious leg/foot injuries?
That seems to be really high on the risk assessment. Neither of those 2 Guys solved this problem for us. I think think Kingsley can develop with time. This offseason will be really important for him. Maybe DJ can come back with Kingsley being the swing tackle and LTOTF. Remember that Humphries, Bolles and Fisher turned into solid LT’s but they all struggled early. The Eagles LT was a major project that took 3 years. This kid is only 21 but has the required physical and athletic traits. He really needs to work on the technique, which is attainable.

Uhh, they DID try. They just failed to reach a deal. Kingsley was the fall back and unfortunately seems to be a rather rotten one.

What do you mean by long term? If he plays good enough and holds up physically then sign him to a three year deal with roster bonuses every year or a contract where we can cut bait if we need to. Is anybody going to give this guy a "long term" top dollar contract at this point of his career? Prolly not.

Why would the NFL need to manufacture a tighter race? It doesn't get much tighter than this. A team hotter than KC is one game behind, with the tiebreaker and a softer schedule.

That’s entirely on Andy Reid. They put him there out of desperation when he clearly should have been red-shirted.
Again LT is a really ****ing hard position to play. We have seen things many times. DJ Humphries was labeled by Bruce Arians as “revolting” in his first training camp. He was the only 1st rd pick inactive his entire rookie year. He bounced back and became a decent LT. Garrett Bolles was a trainwreck to start. He was Jawaan Taylor. He had more holding penalties than any player in NFL history in his first 3 seasons. He wasn’t giving up as many sacks bc he ****ing held. John Elway himself called his fat ass out that year. It was So bad that the Broncos declined his 5th yr option. He is now one of the best LT’s in the NFL this season. Kolton Miller was a disaster early on. Week 5 of his rookie season he allowed 3 sacks and 5 QB hits on Derek Carr prompting fans to push Gruden to bench him. Miller turned around and allowed 3 more sacks the next week against Seattle. He was a full on disaster. Miller allowed a a league-high 16 sacks and a league-worst 65 pressures as a rookie. Now he’s a decent LT. Do I even need to bring up Eric Fisher and how painful his first 2 years were? Anyone remember how much of a disaster he was as a rookie? He turned out well eventually. We cannot give up on Kingsley. Not saying he should be anointed, but don’t quit on him. There is a plenty of evidence of LT’s struggling badly early on and then becoming decent or good with time. Again the kid is only 21.

I said this in the game thread but there’s still just something about Herbert that doesn’t add up. He seems like a great guy and leader and has tremendous physical talent. But something just doesn’t seem to translate on the field. Maybe it’s too soon with new coaching but I’m not sure if harbaugh unlocks it. He just shuts down at inopportune times.
