Reminder for the doom and gloom crowd

The 2015 Chiefs with Alex Smith started 1-5. We went on to win 11 games that year.

The 2021 Chiefs had bad WR problems like we are seeing now. Started 3-4. We ended up 12-5 and hosted the Championship game.

Long season fellas. This staff will figure it out and we'll be fine.

OP is right.

The first six weeks is just a bunch of hand-wringing while we sit around and wait for the inevitable Reidian Run.

Yeah, beating DET by one point with no Jones or Kelce would have sufficed. Maybe it's just what the young guys needed. In the end the SB parade is over and it's time to play some football. Tough loss but better to take that one now and get it out of the way. Revenge of the Chiefs the rest of the way.

More "explosive on offense" this year?
I get the defense praise.

I like Rice.

I like a full season of Toney.

I like the potential for our pass blocking.

I think we overachieved last year on offense - it’s tough to always expect Mahomes to be the MVP - and I’d be plenty happy with an equal-ish performance. But there’s definitely a world where the offense is more explosive with more explosive options.

I think they have a real shot at it. Better defense means Mahomes is on the field more often. Better pass protection means Mahomes will have more time to throw.

It's not like Juju and Mecole were all that irreplaceable last year anyway. Juju disappeared often and Mecole was hurt all year. Plus they just got embarrassed. This will wake them up. (I like our young first and second year WR's too. They're all going to snap out of it.)

So yes, I'm drinking the Koolaid.

Did you watch Nick Wright's shame fest? He said Wilds made a great point not long ago. He said the Chiefs don't need everyone kneeling at their feet. They need doubters, detractors, and all the negative energy coming from the outside. Now they have it.

When the Japs very successfully bombed Pearl Harbor the Admiral who planned the attack wrote this in his diary. "“I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.” I'm thinking the rest of the NFL isn't celebrating that loss in the same way the media is.

There will be hell to pay.

It’s akin to “if Jalen Hurts didn’t fumble, Chiefs lose the Super Bowl”. It’s lame.

And it ignores other parts of the game. For example, Lions fans could say “if we didn’t cough the ball up in the red zone, we wouldn’t have needed that pick-6”.

It also ignores that the defense had the chance to stop the Lions offense and force a FG. But the Lions offense ran through the Chiefs defense like a hot knife through butter, with the game on the line, even though Spags knew they were going to run. That’s honestly the part i’d be most worried about (if anything).

Chiefs are going to be just fcking fine. Wouldn’t even surprise me if they go 15-1 the rest of the way. But the excuses are just lame when any teams fan does it.
we're not saying it to cope with losing the superbowl

we're saying it because people here are freaking out and going full on blackpilled doomer when in reality the chiefs are fine and would have won if not for a lot of things going wrong at once which is something that is unlikely to happen again

Yeah. There’s also a big difference between the forced fumble and the drops.

McDuffie made a hell of a play to cause that fumble. Sure the Lions player could’ve held onto the ball, but still a defensive player did something to help cause it.

There is nothing that any Lion did to make Toney drop any of those passes. Hell, the last one might have been a TD. He was wide open.

Not exactly true. Between Branch and Gardner-Johnson, those two got into the Chiefs receivers heads. Wouldn't have worked on Kelce, but the WRs were playing scared. One instance resulted in a pick 6.

I gotta admit, I'm pretty content at this point no matter what happens. During the Scott Pioli and Herm Edwards years I resigned to the fact that I'd never see a Chiefs Super Bowl and now I've seen 3 with 2 wins.

Whodathunk?!?!

Oh, **** Herm Edwards btw.

True. Joe Bleymaier, Matt Nagy & co should be under some serious self-scrutiny for starting KT. Whatever criteria they used before and during the game to keep KT on the field should be reevaluated. This learning opportunity should not be lost. And FFS, KT should be catching at least 100 passes AFTER EVERY practice. He should be on notice from the coaching staff that he HAS to get better.
