Why would it be a 5 year deal?

They'll tack 3 on the current year, maybe 4 with a void I suppose.

The reason the Chiefs rebuilt the IOL is because it is critical for any QB. Pressure up the middle is about the only way any team could hope to slow down Mahomes on a regular basis.

Creed should stay, even if Jones is lost as a direct result...and I doubt keeping both is impossible.

Well, sure. Guys miss games with injuries. It happens.

Hell, maybe he falls off a cliff this year. If that's the case, the damage is already done.

Bringing Jones back means that Snead is probably the odd man out. The way they’ve drafted DBs looks like they already expect it to happen.

Why didn't we keep Morse and Hudson then? Are the Chiefs stupid? They didn't know Creed Humphrey was walking through the door. They recognized based on how they play that paying a really good center is just a luxury.

They've spent alot of high round picks on C's, paid a LG a shit ton of money.

They obviously value the interior OL.

I would imagine they pay Creed. Seems a no brainer. He's an elite player, pay those and move on.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sneed was out anyway since he seems to have a chronic knee issue.

Maybe I'm off here....but that's the smart way to go?

They've clearly been able to mine DB's in the draft and such. Why would that stop?

Morse had a pretty serious injury history...

Creed is far better than Hudson or Morse ever were, and he's still improving

The way the Chiefs play, the IOL is at least as important as the OTs, maybe even more important.

If they give him a contract now I'd say 3 years is a decent bet. That would be through 29, 30 and 31. After that is tricky but if the contract is built correctly with a way out it won't matter.

I get the point you're trying to make here, but he's under contract this season. This COMING year is his contract year - not the last one. (And it was the same situation last time.)

I loved me some Rodney Hudson, but the dude broke the back when he went to the Raiders. No way we were going to be able to pay him 5 years 45M at the time.

Things are different when you have Mahomes at QB. Nobody is going to risk it now.
