What kind of wallet are you packing these days?

I'm in the market for a new wallet and I'm not sure where to head. You can buy cheap wallets for three bucks or you can spend $100+ on a wallet.

I've done a needs assessment, and decided the following:

I need enough room to hold approximately four cards: a couple of credit cards, a driver's license, and a health insurance card.

I need a place to hold cash, and preferably a hidden or non-obvious compartment. I'm a baby boomer so I will always carry cash because you never know when the Soviets will launch a nuclear strike and destroy civilization and we'll need paper money to exchange for cans of beans or survival knives. That's how boomers were raised, so don't question me on it.

It would be nice to have some other little compartment for miscellany, like my discount card for the grocery store that's 1/8 the size of a credit card.

I've historically carried my wallet in my right rear pocket, but I'm open to moving it to a front pocket.

I'm kind of intrigued by the phone case that doubles as a wallet, but that means that I'll likely need a new wallet whenever I get a new phone, and that seems wasteful.

What do you have? How do you like it?

An interesting point. After getting a new wallet, I find it hard to just throw my old one in the trash. It has been my constant companion for years and years. We've been very close. Trashing it seems like a full out betrayal, even though I've moved to a newer model.

I typically put it in a drawer, as if I would have a reason to go back to using it. I might put some of the cards in it that I've culled out during the transition. The hard truth is that I won't ever be using it or the cards again. But I just can't face that truth. (right away, anyway -- I'll through it out in a year or two when I stumble upon it in the drawer)

This guy does detailed wallet reviews, and you can see his rankings here:

https://www.walletopia.info/rankings/

It's kind of subjective, because for example I really don't like his #1 ranking at all. But it's a good compendium even though the scrolling table induces rage when you try to scroll.

I'm kind of interested in the Flipside 4 despite his ranking of #271 out of #299. It's awesome looking and good for my personal brand. But I don't know if it'll be too bulky and it's clearly only a front pocket wallet.

I really like the design of the Tauruscamp that he ranks #4 of 299. That's a safer pick than the Flipside even if it doesn't look like a wallet from the future. It's on the higher end of the price spectrum, though.

I'm torn about spending much money on a wallet, though. I could see going with the corner zipper wallet that's ranked #41 for six bucks, because why not? I'll look like a little old lady with a change purse, though, which isn't ideal. I could also get functionality from the Travelambo that buehler has (ranked #251) for ten bucks.

I don't live in an area where I can hunt alligators. Maybe I could make a squirrelskin wallet.

It wouldn't let me into instagram because I wasn't old enough, but I went back and put in my birthday. Nice work! Do you have a catalog or price list somewhere?

And I might have to consider some of that leather armor for my wife. We live in dangerous times.

Dangerous times or just looking bad ass haha. We don't have a catalog. We do all custom orders for the most part. Very rarely have stock.

I'm all about that 6 dollar corner zipper front pocket wallet. The problem is so is everyone else, Its unavailable everywhere.
