Yes. They are both Marvel Knights characters and both took risks other Marvel characters rarely took as far as dark subject matter and gray morals. (Punisher more than Daredevil, of course)

Also, they both work in New York so they run into each other a fair amount. I'm not a total expert, but in the things I read, Daredevil always seemed to tolerate Castle more than the other brighter, cleaner superheroes, even when they were at odds. They worked together here and there, which is significant because they are both loners.

I'm super excited about him entering for Daredevil season 2. Given the tone of season one, it's a perfect venue for Punisher to enter the MCU. Love the casting as well. This is gonna be good.

Also Kingpin is pretty much both characters' main antagonist. For Daredevil there's also Bullseye and for Frank obviously there's Jigsaw.

The "spinoffs" are already in place and I don't think will include Punisher on his own. The Punisher is pretty much the only comic book series I read religiously as a kid but I share those sentiments that he might be a bit too anti-hero to carry his own series. We'll just have to see.

As far as the other Netflix Marvel series go:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jessica_Jones_(TV_series)

Marvel's Jessica Jones[edit]
Main article: Jessica Jones (TV series)
Former superhero Jessica Jones, who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, opens her own detective agency to help people, including other superheroes.

In November 2013, Melissa Rosenberg was announced to write and executive produce the series. In March 2014, Loeb stated that Jessica Jones would begin filming after Daredevil. In December 2014, Krysten Ritter was cast as Jessica Jones in the series, officially titled Marvel's Jessica Jones. Filming began in New York City in February 2015.The series is set to premiere in 2015.

In December 2014, Mike Colter was cast as Luke Cage,a recurring role in the series before headlining his own series.

Marvel's Luke Cage

Luke Cage is an ex-con with superhuman strength and unbreakable skin who fights crime on the streets of Hell's Kitchen.

Mike Colter will star as Luke Cage in his own series, titled Marvel's Luke Cage. In March 2014, Loeb stated that the series would begin filming after Iron Fist, being the fourth of the individual series. By March 2015, it was instead slated to be the third of the individual series, beginning production after Jessica Jones. Also in the month, Cheo Hodari Coker was announced as showrunner and executive producer of the series. The series is set to premiere in 2016.

Marvel's Iron Fist

Danny Rand is a martial arts expert, and the superhero Iron Fist.

In March 2014, Loeb initially stated that the Iron Fist series would begin filming after Jessica Jones as the third of the individual series. By March 2015, it was expected to be the fourth of the individual series, entering production following Luke Cage. In April 2015, the title of the series was revealed to be Marvel's Iron Fist.

Marvel's The Defenders

The superheroes Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist team-up in New York City.

The Defenders will see Cox, Ritter, and Colter reprising their roles as Matt Murdock / Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage, respectively, from previous television series. In March 2014, Loeb stated that the miniseries, officially titled Marvel's The Defenders, would begin filming after all of the individual series.

They fight much more then they team up really. Daredevil has the no killing policy, The Punisher does not.

Basically, Punisher is Daredevil if Daredevil gave in to his 'demons'.

For sure. I just always got the impression Daredevil saw him as misguided while most of the rest of the Marvel heroes see him as a psychopath.

Through the 90's there was an interesting play between Spidey/DD/Punisher.

On one extreme was spidey, the other Punisher, and DD was somewhere in the middle as they all visited each other's books.

And another thing to consider is that JJ is the only character that isn't "TV friendly." By that I mean it would be really easy for Cage, Puisher, DD, Iron fist, etc. to show up in Agents of SHIELD or another show because the big CGI costs aren't there like Hulk or Thor.

SHIELD could go on a mission to capture some arms dealer and there's that crazzy a$$hole Punisher again, killing everyone and ruining the operation.

Heck, SHIELD just teasing a cameo by saying "known enhanced in the area are..." and then you're on the edge of your seat waiting to see if any of them show up.

Marvel broke new ground with a whole cinematic universe building up to Avengers and they might pull off the same thing with "TV."

I wonder if they'll make Bernthal slightly ( premature)greyed like he's been through some hardcore shit like Mel Gibson's Mad Max in the Road Warrior.

Depends on where they go with it.

I doubt they keep Punisher a 'Nam vet. It'll probably be updated to Gulf War because they're not going to have him be in his late 50's or 60's.

I think he's got the right look though and he's got that crazy intensity down...

If they do the vet thing at all, it'll be Iraq/Afghanistan, but I think they'll avoid the topic altogether so they don't wade into a PTSD/Veteran Care issue.

Of course, maybe that's the whole plan, which would be disappointing.

No. The Punisher will never be a poster boy for PTSD caused from combat. That was NEVER Frank Castle's issue.

Frank Castle's issues stem from seeing his family murdered in front of him, and then he himself is nearly killed along with them.

He lived. They didn't. He has a large amount of self loathing toward himself for that, and contemplates suicide on more than one occaision before turning his loathing and aggression toward the criminal scum of the earth.

Frank Castle's combat veteran background simply served as a storytelling tool to explain how it is that Castle is so deadly with so many different weapons, hand to hand combat, demolition, and tactics.

There's not going to be any "He was a veteran lets all feel sorry for him" bullshit.

No ****ing way.

Love the Bernthal casting for Frank Castle. This dude is going to knock that role out of the ****ing park. Well, as long as his director can keep that head rubbing shit that he does to a minimum, and work around those scenes where his face looks as if he's trying to hold back a wet fart.

So I finally got around to watching it. My thoughts in no particular order:

Charlie Cox was perfect casting
The guy playing Foggy is terribad
What's the point of Rosario Dawson's character?
Vincent d'onofrio is perfect casting
The entire subplot with Wilson fisk' s girlfriend almost derailed the series
Foggy' s whiny-ass reaction to Murdock' s secret identity almost killed the series
It's like they can't decide what to do with Deborah Ann Woll as a love interest

All in all I liked it a lot but there's plenty of room for improvement.

I haven't finished it but these seem like good observations.

The fighting is so good that I typically don't care about these idiot side characters.

Stick was good, especially the one on one fight at the end of his episode.

Well I certainly hope not. Just saying I could see it. Marvel is handling everything so well there is a part of me that can't believe they can keep it up. "They have to blow it sometime."

I agree with pretty much all of this. I was cool with Rosario, since she offered him a sounding board and some sort of explanation for how he could survive the brutal beatings he kept taking. (The fact that she's insanely attractive didn't hurt.)

I'm also fine with the lack of commitment to Karen Page as a love interest. No need to rush that story, IMO.

Otherwise you summed up pretty much all of my criticisms of the first season.
