Any Bourbon drinkers out there?
I've heard some good things about Buffalo Trace Bourbon.
http://www.buffalotrace.com/ Can't get it up here north of the border but, through a wine distributer I am able to order a case. Would like to hear from someone who knows their stuff and has tried it before I order. Thanks |

Now the 4 roses single barrel is a different story. It's heads and tails above either the yellow label or small batch. I love making Old Fashioneds with the 4 roses single barrel as it's got a nice heat to it. Enjoy those drinks either way! Love me some Eagle Rare too. And a 10 year aged single barrel for under $30 that's easy to find....makes it ever better!

Last night I discovered that I do not like Old Fashioneds at all. I'd rather just sip my Four Roses on the rocks. I tried making them different ways, some using only sugar/bitters/bourbon, some adding a cherry/orange peel/splash of club soda...all nasty. I did get pretty wasted though!

It may have already been mentioned earlier, but has anyone had the Pendergast Royal Gold bourbon? I rarely get back to KC, but wondered if it was worth a go. Pretty pricey, but not a huge factor if it is good.
My favorites are Bookers, Knob, Woodford, but I appreciate many others. |

Interesting comparison between Pappys 10 yo and Weller 12yo. Whiskey Vault The Mooch and the Somm. I dont know whats going on with The Somm and the big ass chain and medallion.
That Weller 12yo is good stuff for just under 30 bucks but as the Somm said getting hard to find. I think because the popularity of bourbon now. As for Pappys Id never buy it for 350+ but I have mooched it and im pretty indifferent on it.

Anyone tried Blanton's Gold and prefer it to the Original Single Barrel?

They won a gold metal in 2016 from an "award mill" billed as NYISC (one of 8) a trade judged competition (buyers, distributors, and bar managers?) for it's Builders Gin but paid $300. to judge it. There were 2 other gins which earned Double Gold Metals.

I'm contemplating trading for a bottle, but their website describes it as "for discerning connoisseurs who appreciate exceptional smoothness and clean finish in their bourbon whiskey", which is a level I'm not on...yet. So I'm on the fence.

What do you have to trade for it?

I need to know this as well.
I think the Gold edition is very hard to find in the US? I know sure as shit it's not located in AZ anywhere.

It's a beer. The beer is going for more on secondary (not hugely important to me), but I know what I'd be giving up on the beer side but not totally clear what I'm gaining on the bourbon side. Which is why I posed it to you discerning connoisseurs of bourbon
