Playcalling is not the issue

Playcalling is not the reason we averaged 4.1 yards per play. There is an elephant in the room this season and it is offensive line play (both LT and RT) and the effect it's had on Mahomes' pocket presence. We are bottom-tier offensively. Run, pass, it doesn't matter -- there are no big plays or easy throws like you see with decent to good offense. Our offense is one of the worst in the league. (If you deny that, you simply don't watch much football. Sorry.)

On the flip side, our D was spectacular today. One of the best performances I can remember.

Ford’s 62 yard run for Cleveland yesterday is almost double the Chiefs longest from a RB for the entire season (Pacheco 34 yards).

Honestly, do a lot of you watch other teams play?

The Chiefs don't have the best OL in the league or anything but it's also far from the worst. Reading here you'd think the Chiefs were rocking with an entire line of nothing but scrubs that shouldn't be starters.

The problem is even when the throws are there, he misses. He just doesn't look like the same guy he was just 2 years ago, all the dynamicness just isn't there. I dunno what the **** happened either, it's really weird.

Morris is currently ranked as the 73rd best Tackle out of 80 on PFF. Taylor is 53/80.

Pretty clear what the problem is.

Well you see, two drives prior to him missing a wide open pass he was pressured a few times and sacked so how can expect him to complete a simple pass from a clean pocket later in the game?

Some of the stuff people say, you'd think he was the most mentally fragile person that ever existed. By God did you see that sack he took? it means he'll be unable to properly throw for the next 25 minutes.

Yeah, he's not just being pressured a few times. He leads the league in QB pressures and hits, and is top three in sacks and hurries.

We signed Humphries for a reason. Our Tackle play has sucked ass.

Yeah I don't get this OL is ruining everything. Over his career Joe Burrow's 17 game average is 47 for sacks. He's been sacked 181 times in 66 games. He's been sacked 29 times in 7 playoff games. He isn't out there seeing ghosts. He has a bottom 5 OL and looks like an MVP.

People will point to his weapons, but who cares, because he doesn't get much time to throw.

ESPN has the OL as the 2nd best pass blocking OL in the league.

Edit-

These numbers are what he's responsible for. Not the OL.

If you look at the OL% overall it's pretty average because the interior is so good, and RT is below average but adequate. They are addressing LT which has been abysmal. They are adding a quick open receiver. I think they're fine if they wind up needing to try roll with Thuney.

Despite all these concerns they've been a league average scoring offense with a top four defense that's good enough to carry them to a 13-1 record. We are just so spoiled, and every team has a weakness somewhere.

PFF gave Mahomes a 43 yesterday, he's only had 2 or 3 games worse than that his entire career.

This shows QB as being responsible for 23.3% of his pressures. It's the 2nd highest in the league.
