Smith signs with Raiders

Raiders add cornerback Sean Smith
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 10, 2016, 7:55 AM EST
Sean Smith AP

The best available player in our Free Agent Hot 100 has been snapped up.

Former Chiefs cornerback Sean Smith has agreed to a deal with the Raiders.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that it’s a four-year deal worth $40 million, with $20 million guaranteed.

Heading into free agency, Smith was our No. 14 player available. The 13 ahead of him have all either signed a contract or been franchised.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...ck-sean-smith/

A 2009 second-round pick of the Dolphins, Smith played four seasons in Miami before signing a three-year, $18 million deal with the Chiefs in free agency. Now Smith is on his third team, and his third contract.

It's cool. No one is going to know what SS struggles with more than our staff. JMac gets to twist him up a few times, it'll be fun.

Now, sign Abdullah and a vet corner, and let's go draft.

Kyle Fuller's younger brother. Most accounts say he's more talented and his Soph. tape would seem to support that. Hell, he even put up 6 picks as a true freshman. His early tapes and development screamed top 10 pick.

Yeah, had some rough games this year but as noted, he played most of his season on a bum knee (well, 'most' being the 3 games he played before they shut him down).

It's a scout's decision, IMO. If your scouts get eyes on him and believe he's the player his soph season suggests he could be, then he's a likely first rounder with the potential to be as good a cover corner as anyone in this draft (Ramsey included). But if you think he maxed and that his JR year was a result of him simply not developing rather than the injury, he's probably more of a 3rd rounder.

He needs to get out there and run for scouts before you can slot him anywhere, IMO.

That's a pretty high avg for Fuller. Must take a lot of chances.
Yup.

http://draftbreakdown.com/players/kendall-fuller/

He's a bit of a 'peaker'. Likes to take chances and looks like a guy that may get beat up a bit early on by smarter quarterbacks that can use their eyes well.

But there's a ton of physical ability there. I love the explosion and the length.

That's a problem that can be fixed fairly easily if he is coachable.

The problem is that if he does well, he probably doesn't make it to 28. If he does poorly, we may not want to gamble on him.

Best case scenario is probably that he sells the Steelers on his health, they take him and Apple falls. I just don't see a situation where he falls to us AND Dorsey is comfortable gambling on him.

Expect the Raiders to hard after Eric Weddle.

If the Dat to SF for Eric reid rumor has legs and goes thru, I'm gonna drive the truck for Braxton miller at 28.

I don't think Braxton Miller is a 1st rounder. I'd rather see if him or Shepard can make it to our 2nd pick and draft a corner.

I'd love to have Reid for Branch's replacement though.

i actually prefer not complaining, but the chiefs were a clown car on fire for a couple decades

i never get worked up about the ku jayhawks because i know they're run by the best so all i have to do is watch and enjoy it (also why i can't stand most ku fans, they spend their miserable lives looking for reasons to be miserable)....Dorsey inspires a bit of that feeling

all he needs to do now is make lynch fall to us and I can retire

Reggie has fixed the Raider books. Reggie has been drafting well. Reggie working the free agent market well. Raiders are getting better every year now. These aren't Al Davis' Raiders anymore.
