I’m trying it for the first billable cycle to see the actual difference. So far, I’m stunned that after real adherence to these guidelines, I’m looking at a bill that’s double the June 2023 bill.

As the June billing cycle comes through, I’m sure this will be a big issue with the local TV/radio stations. After the recent property tax increases, as soon as the fixed income folks get a giant bill or somebody’s grandparent meets their maker cause the house got too hot, the pressure will be on.
I may have to go the solar route. |

Then again, everything is switching to electric for power. Keep in mind that 40 years ago people didn't each have a cell phone, tablet, and car all running off the plug in at home. People didn't have 5 or 6 TV screens or monitors all running at the same time. Every appliance wasn't electric. There's a greater demand for electric energy now than ever before and you know what they say about supply and demand. Hell, the PC I'm typing on now heats my entire living room in the winter just by forcing it to try and play Ark. I have it by a window I have to crack open that helps cool it. It's also placed by the AC vent that blows right on it in summer.

Inflation is a horrible tax that stuns those who cannot respond. Fixed income folks suffer greatly.
The discussion this week on KMBZ Morning show was about rentals with no AC and when do we "force" landlords to supply AC to all rentals. Absurd across the board. We have forgotten that when things become more expensive we have to use less or reallocate from other areas we spend. Evergy seems from all accounts to be heartless bastards who abuse thir position. But aside from that. The only way the Grid can regulate electric demand is to make it more expensive to moderate use.

Evergy has put forth a 14% rate increase to the Missouri Public Service Commission. They are taking public comments now. I’d advise you all to get on line and tell the MPSC to deny this.
These monopolized ****heads are pretty shameless when they want money. This rate increase comes just 12 months after they were allowed to gouge out the quadrupled 4p-8p rates this year. Their claim is it’s cost them a lot of money to fix their own shit after a storm. And depending on where you live can be 7-10 days as happened all over prairie Village and OP this spring. Also, they paid out about 500M in dividends to their shareholders. Might want to sink a lot if that back into the infrastructure, you Kunts. |

My energy bill in the summer has been around $380 to $475 for a decade now. But Ive learned most ppl don't keep their house at 70 for some reason.
Gotta stop being lazy and get solar |

Evergy is a pretty terrible company, they also send out fliers that tell you to do laundry at 3 AM to save money.

And here's another wonderful thing that they do. When I was looking to buy solar panels, I was told that in Kansas, you can't be completely off the grid. But Evergy automatically charges like $15 just to be connected to the grid. Sounds like a racket. Oh well, after I pay off these solar panels, it will be pretty much free electricity for the rest of my days. They say they are warrantied to produce something like 90% or 92% of their original output after 25 years, long after mine will have been paid. Best decision I could have made.

Combine that with their "helpful" emails showing I used X amount more energy over the summer compared to spring, and why I should be concerned about my increased usage. Terrible company indeed that can take their bullshit all the way over there.

My absolutely favorite part of all of this is they'll raise prices to increase profit, put none of that back into the company and then when their grid ****s up again they'll raise the prices again while not improving the grid. |
