The Broncos fans didn't want to count the Chiefs SB 4 trophy because it was pre merger now suddenly they want them to count for the Packers?

Ok, the home field is a good point.

The number of teams, that echoes some of the points I made about leaving AFL games out of some analyses ... so I got to admit that more teams in the League now is also persuasive.

I guess I'd respond that I wasn't saying the Packers 3-Peat was as impressive as the one your Chiefs might get, just that it WAS a 3-Peat.

It's a double standard on your part, plain and simple. A completely understandable double standard, in that your Chiefs-centric narrow minds badly want to believe you'll be the "First Ever," and the NFL's Promo Machine is working overtime to drive your thinking in that direction, so it's understandable. But it's still a double standard.
The entire concept of the Super Bowl was to have the conference champions play each other to determine which conference came out on top. The name is entirely irrelevant.

Comparing conference championships to Super Bowls is not a valid comparison. You are equating two different things.

Shit, by your own logic we just three-peated yesterday. That's three consecutive conference championships.

JUST LIKE THE PACKERS DID

Well I guess I'm not the only one. You and the NFL promo hucksters are going full-bore on a potential "first ever three-peat!"

Nope. The Green Bay Packers ALREADY accomplished that! They won THREE championships in a row, the second and third of which were followed by winning the "AFL-NFL World Championship Game" ... only later retro-actively called "Super Bowl I and II."

Same thing. You cry to me about "skipping our best years," so don't skip the Packers' THREE-PEAT. You might still "three-repeat," you just won't be the first
1) No team's won three straight Super Bowls.

2) Now that you count old championships, we definitely have to count all those wins over the Broncos.

Hate to do this to you, but.....73-57.

I've been all over the Internet, a dozen or more football message boards, and dozens more sports sites, and this place is the first time I've heard those violations mentioned in at least 10 years, probably longer.

Guys, THE LEAGUE makes the rules, not you. We win those two Super Bowls, end of story. You're like Trump after Biden had already taken office, STILL CRYING the election was stolen.

Thanks for making my point for me, albeit in a backwards way.

You guys all DEMAND I COUNT AFL GAMES! But when I point out all the 3-Peat hype (a record your team doesn't even have yet), is just hype because the Packers already accomplished it, suddenly NOW you want to exclude that accomplishment. Exclude just ONE YEAR, the other two years you're ok with, right?

  1. I posted a statistic analysis that counted just NFL games
  2. I also post our teams' H2H should best be seen in NFL games only, leaving out the 19-1 in the intentionally uneven, non-competitive AFL
  3. You guys CRY OUT "No BroncoBuff, no!" You can't leave out AFL games, that's the OTHER time we were good!"
  4. Oh, but NOW - now you're FINE with excluding other records merely because they're NAMED differently: "No BroncoBuff, no! The first of those three wasn't even called "Super Bowl!'"

I got news for you - The second and third of those three weren't called Super Bowls either, not until two years later. Which proves even further that it's all about names, not about a true 3-Peat record.

Anything before the NFL/AFL merger doesn't count when comparing Superbowls, sorry. This is a fact: The Kansas City Chiefs are the first team ever to play in two Superbowls in a row and play in a third with a chance to 3 peat.

And the League found the violations provided NO COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE. They didn't say that per se, but when the Cowboys and Redskins violated the cap during the infamous "uncapped 2010 season," the League didn't hesitate one second calling them violations that were intended to create competitive advantages. AND they penalized those teams FAR more than they did the Broncos.

So there.

The NFL fined the Broncos a 3rd round pick for circumventing the salary cap in 1997 and 1998. That is a fact. Without doing so, they wouldn't have been able to bring back Elway, Davis, Sharpe, and several other key players. So, in everyone elses mind, they cheated to win a couple of SBs and the cheating is legitimized by the penalty imposed by the NFL

No, there were FOUR Super Bowls before the merger. Sorry to keep correcting you guys. If you don't like it, stop making mistakes.

And there HAS been one 3-Peat before ... it definitely WAS a 3-Peat. Only difference is the first of the 3 wasn't called a "Super Bowl."

Who was it that was arguing that all of the Chiefs wins against the Broncos before the merger didn't count? Was that you?

ETA - I had to go back quite a ways, but yes, it actually was you that claimed it wasn't right to count the Chiefs' wins against the Broncos that occurred before the merger. So, tell us Mensa boy, what is your take on the merger? Do we count stuff from before the merger, or not? Take a stand and stick to it. Don't switch back and forth to suit whatever argument you happen to be currently making.
