But all the BIG YELLING words were just a kinda last gasp at getting rid of the Broncos hatred long enough so we could talk some football. Can you believe I've been kicking around here 3 weeks now, but haven't posted a single word about Broncos-Falcons, Broncos-Ravens, and just a bit of info on the Broncos player knocked on his butt so the Chiefs could block the field goal? That's it, and that is just sad.

But you're all welcome to my statistical analyses of:

1) John Elway vs Dan Marino careers, and how, after Marino's first 4 or 5 years blowing up the stat sheets, that the last 12 years of their careers were strikingly similar statistically. It's all right there a page or two ago. And of course John retired having won more games and started more Super Bowls than any QB ever, which obviously trumps Marino's early stats.

2) John Elway vs Aaron Rodgers careers. By coincidence, this very week they have practically identical career W-L regular season records, though Rodgers has significantly better stats and four MVP awards. Still, Aaron has 6 playoff 'one-and-dones' in 11 Playoff apprentices, he's 1-4 in NFCCGs, and made just one Super Bowl. OTOH, John is 5-2 in AFCCGs, 2-3 in Super Bowls, one League MVP, one SB MVP, and three 'one-and-dones.' So pretty clearly again, advantage John.

SO SORRY brdempsey, I know all this makes you sad, but don't pout! If the league wanted to disqualify the Broncos Super Bowl wins, they would have done so a long time ago. You're just going to have to get used to them.

The good news is my eyes are wide open - I do not fear reality! About 9 months ago I elevated Mahomes to #3 on my Top 10 greatest QBs of all time (Elway 7, Rodgers 8, Marino 9), I think 6 pushing 7 home field Championship games in a row is an amazing record, I really like Arrowhead Stadium, and I think Lamar Hunt was a truly great man.

Wrong again. Al Davis publicly exposed the Donkeys scandalous activities & suggested that their fraudulent SB trophies be stripped from them & if Davis had been commissioner of the league (like Davis was for a short time in the AFL in 1966), he would have stripped them.

Therefore, for any NFL team owner to suggest that the Donkeys have their fraudulent SB trophies stripped from them, is all the proof anyone needs that the Donks SB trophies aren't legit.

I don't have to get used to anything, it's really a matter of you not wanting to accept the reality that your Donkeys all-time SB record is 0 wins, 5 losses, and 3 gifted to them, because the Donks can't win any SB in legit fashion on a level playing field, as their history has proved.

And true history (as well as the overhead camera) shows Elway was 2nd-tier & doesn't belong in the discussion of GOAT QB's.

It's like you had suggested earlier ............... Donktards never let reality get in their way when it comes to exhibiting their self-delusion.

And the great big world out there outside of Donkeys camp knows the Donkeys all-time SB record is 0 wins, 5 losses, and 3 gifted to them and here is one example that you can't seem to stomach (and don't kid yourself into thinking there aren't others, they are right here in this very thread)

The reason that John Elway chased after Payton Manning SO HARD was because he knew that he would be "gifted" a Super Bowl or two in his last years. BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED TO ELWAY.
And the Donkeys cheating-ass owner Bowlen didn't think it was so hilarious when Davis publicly exposed the Donkeys cheating & violating the salary cap & Bowlen found himself having to lie and say he was "deferring payments to fund a new stadium", which has been proven false.

You said you weren't measuring solely by playoff wins, yet that's exactly what you're doing.

If their stats and individual accomplishments were similar, then having one more Lombardi could be a tiebreaker. But they're not close. Postseason stats aren't close either. Pretty disingenuous stuff.

Before Mahomes came along, I thought Rodgers was the most talented QB I'd ever seen. And I've heard unbiased analysts make the case that they're 1 and 2 in terms of talent. Objectively, it's hard to say that Elway has Rodgers beat in any way other than arm strength.

I’m only adding these stats and if there are other more compelling stats to consider, let me know.

All Time NFL Ranks for QB

NFL Wins - #1 at retirement and currently #7
Playoff Wins - #2 at retirement and currently #6
Passing Yards - #2 at retirement and currently #14
Passing TDs - #3 at retirement and currently #14

The game changes all the time and he finished Top 3 in those four major categories. In the 25 years since he Elway retired, the rules have become very friendly to the passing game and how defenses play, but his body of work holds well.

Slice up history however you like, I’m at peace where I believe he ranks.

If you watched Elway play extensively throughout his career, like I did, or go to You Tube and watch some full games of Elway, it's very easy to see that often times Elway's arm strength worked against him -- continually throwing that off-target 110 MPH fastball, as though Elway was throwing a baseball instead of a football.

An example of that can be seen in the Donks playoff loss to the Jags in the 1996 playoffs when the Donks went up 12-0 and tried for a 2-pt conversion. The 2-point try went like this:

Elway pulls a turd out of his back pocket & throws it in off-target, 110-MPH fashion AT Shannon Sharpe and it splats off Sharpe's upper right hip and falls to the ground incomplete (Rodgers would have completed this pass 999 times out of 1000).

Denver lost that game in 96 because Michael Dean Perry couldn’t get his fat ass off the field quick enough late in the game.

If you just look at Elway’s stats im not sure it’s wrong to say he was carried to all of those sbs, even the ones early in his career

Rank him wherever you want, but using longevity stats as the basis of the argument is goofy. Playing more games doesn't make you the more talented/productive player.

Longevity stats.. that’s funny. Nobody brings up longevity until the conversation around Terrell Davis and the HOF comes up.

The revisionist history around here regarding Elway is interesting.
