As for Marino, it just so happens that Elway only faced Marino twice in the regular season -- once in 1985 and once 1998. Marino and the Dolphins won both contests. The 1985 full game is available on YouTube & you can clearly see that Marino is the better passer & commentator Merlin Olsen states as much. You can also see that Donktards mythology about "Elway carried those '80's Donkeys teams" is completely FALSE. |

Horse face stats aren’t great. When you’re talking about a top 5 qb, he’s gotta have good stats.
Horseface doesn’t have good stats. And don’t give me this era stuff, compare him with Montana. It’s not even close |

After closer inspection...you realize why Horseface resorted to cheating. Bowlen knew he wasn't going to ever win a SB playing fairly. Those losses were embarrassing.
Hell...even in the Giants SB loss...they were down 39-13 with 2 minutes left. That was the best game Horseface ever had in a SB. He is hands down the worst SB QB of all time...they were desperate to scrub that fact before he retired ringless. Here is his stat line from the Packers (cheating era) SB....12 for 22 123 yards and 0 TDs...51.9 rating. So in three SBs, he had: 12 for 22 123 yards and 0 TD, 51.9 rating. 10 for 26 108 yards and 0 TD, 2 INT, 19.4 rating 14 for 38 257 yards and 1 TD, 3 INT, 36.8 rating here is the total... 1TD, 5 INT 36-86 36.0 rating...42% completion average. "My life won't be complete without a SB win" -- Dick Enberg quoting Elway towards the end of the 1991 Chiefs-Bills playoff game. Then circa 2000 -- 2001, we see a TV commercial piece that show's Elway's buck-toothed Donkey face bragging about "winning 2 Super Bowls". Then we have NFL Films creating a hit piece called "This one's for John", but you know it isn't forthcoming and truthful by any stretch of the imagination. It, of course, tries to sell the false narrative that Elway got his fraudulent SB trophy in legit fashion, but knowledgeable football fans know it isn't true. And right there is why there is so much hoopla regarding the "Helicopter Dive" (as though no ball carrier in football history has ever been hit and spun around by a defender before or since). It was because Elway didn't do SQUAT else in that game other than hand the ball off to Davis. Elway couldn't throw the ball worth a squat -- same as his pre-cheating SB's. Denver fans give Elway a pass for the SB blowouts, claiming his supporting cast wasn't good enough...while also giving him the credit for being carried by a loaded team when he was past his prime.

When I was looking up those stats..I never realized how legit terrible he was...kind of shocked actually. I figured there would some 300+ yard SB games since they were all blowouts and playing from behind.
How do you throw for 108 yards and lose by 45 points? That's an undrafted rookie playing his first NFL game type of numbers....yikes. I also didnt realize he played Bernie Kosar in all 3 AFCCG. The guy notched one probowl appearance his entire career. Horseface should be sending the guy flowers every year...his average QB play helped invent the Elway myth. His career is even more fraudulent than I imagined...I didnt even need to fudge the numbers to make him look worse. Last edited by BlackOp; Yesterday at 02:01 PM.. |

The following quote is from a poster named Insider from a Philly sports fans page (sorry, I can't post the link at this time). He rates Elway as the most overrated QB of all-time and here is what he says:

_______________________________ SUPER BOWL XXXIII Elway ~ 18-29 63% ~ 336 yds 1 TD 1 rush TD John Elway named Super Bowl MVP _______________________________ Broncos led 10-9 at halftime of the Giants Super Bowl … things only got outta hand in the last one minute of 3rd quarter, ended 39-20 ... and Phil Simms played a perfect game. (Someday you guys really have to learn that quarterbacks don’t play on defense. Really, they don’t!) Quote:
And even if they did, Dan Marino would’ve been a much better choice … better looking, SB smile, or did you and your mysterious filly friend without a link ever happen to see Marino’s numbers his first couple years? Quote:
By the way, Elway bitch-slapped Cunningham, Jaworski and the rest of the Eagles 33-7 at Veterans Stadium in 1986. Quote:
Never said that. First off, as I pointed out, their regular season records are identical. And, playoff are just one of numerous factors to consider. And now let’s consider two QBs with the same number of years, career starts and re season records, plus: PLAYER #1 goes 1-4 in Ch-ship games, plays one SB, has six ‘one-and-dones’ in 11 Playoff seasons, 3 Leaghas GREAT STATS! PLAYER #2 goes 5-2 in Ch-ship games, 2-3 in SBs, just 3 ‘one-and-dones,’ NFL MVP, SB MVP, but just pedestrian stats. AND he retires with the most wins ever and most Super Bowl starts ever ……. Obviously PLAYER #2 is the Winner! So why can’t RaiderCellar or anybody else around here admit this simple truth? When RaiderCellar said #1 was better, I asked simply “how did you get to that conclusion?” And, like the rest of you, he ignored the question. Quote:
And correct (despite your sarcasm), Elway was never close to the same level as Mahomes. Mahomes, who 9 months ago leap-frogged another Top 10 stalwart into 3rd place on my all-time list. You’re welcome. Quote:
Okay, fine. Take away Elway’s last two years. Then his career is VERY similar to ??? JIM KELLY! (just one fewer SB loss). And see here! Jim Kelly is in the Hall of Fame, so that version of Elway would be too! RC, you must understand: Players enshrined in the Hall of Fame are NOT average. They’re not even above average, they are WAY above average, an exceptional few. You guys’ complaints are really weak stuff … and the weakest part is – (well the WEAKEST is how you constantly make up quotes and misquote me in order to make points), but the second weakest weakness is you over and over fail to learn from my example. Again and again I elevate truth and logic (and my opinions) above your obsessive hatred … I properly praise Mahomes, Reid, and practically elevate Lamar Hunt to sainthood. I think 6, pushing 7 straight home field Championship games is one of the 2 or 3 most amazing records in all sports. But does anybody stop and say, “Well he is right about one thing - the NFL did not strip the Super Bowls from the Broncos. We can complain, but they are valid.” Nope. Does anybody say, “I think we have more in common with this guy than we have in opposition, were football fans” and “maybe we should treat him like a human being?” Nope. Well, I remain convinced everything I’ve said about your obsession is true, for numerous of you. Many of you were simply jumping on the pile for fun, at least that's what I thought. But by now that fun time should've naturally broke, and we'd be talking football (had the most hope for RealSNR and RaidersCellar), but alas no. ..It says "Captain" ^^^ right there! If Elway was YOUR CAPTAIN, that means he now has THREE Super Bowls! And you can't complain he cheated to get this one, because that would mean you cheated too! Oh that is quite the dilemma! . Insider was referring to when Cunningham started & played the full game against Elway -- like he did in 1989 and in 1992 and Cunningham bitch-slapped Elway both times. Quote:

Nice try by omitting "by the arm and play of Randall", but you FAIL. Cunningham had no such opportunity in that 1986 game, therefore anybody can easily see Insider was referring to the games where Randall was the starter for the Eagles (which he wasn't in that 1986 game) going up against your 2nd-tier, buck-toothed, turd-out-of-his-back-pocket pulling QB named Turd Elway. He's clearly had one too many intimate sessions with his neighbor's dog. He continually distorts context and tries to mislabel evidence put in front of him as "opinion" because he knows it proves the opposite of the false spin that he's trying to push.
