When you hit a bad drive or two, you figure "okay, back 9 will be fine..."

When you hit 6 of them and then another on 10, you just have to put your driver in your bag and hope that when you play your next round, you've gotten past your shanks. Having a hot dog and a beer won't fix it - you just need that hard re-set, get away from the course, come back with a clear head a different day.

This is starting to feel like we need a hard re-set.
Naw... keep breaking out the big stick with that false hope that it will somehow magically correct itself. As I watch balls sail out of bound or into the lake, trying harder and harder to fix the problem without actually studying the real problem and doing anything about it.

Yep. All of this. Last year tricked people but this is correct and will always be correct. All the talk of Mahomes being able to be a "force multiplier" and let us get away with scrubs so we can focus on the D missed the whole point. He IS a force multiplier, so let him lead an impossibly lethal offense, because that's the greatest impact on talent.

This is another time where we're putting it all on 'his weapons' while not really acknowledging that he wasn't doing himself any favors at all throughout that game.
He was worse against Detroit, hell he was worse against Miami and the Donks. This was the WRs and the OTs s***ting the bed. He wasn't great but he was light years ahead of his supporting cast in this game compared to the Lions and others. He's been off no doubt but i don't think this game was on him.

Well, this has been a fun catch-up.

Every week, I hear the same shit.

They'll get it fixed. They'll get it fixed.

Narrator: It is decidedly NOT getting fixed, it's getting worse.

Do you know how bad you have to be to be the lowest scoring 2nd half team in a league shared with offenses like the Patriots, Jets, Steelers, Panthers and Giants?

Last night was the type game I think a lot of us have been concerned about for a while - where the defense does everything you could possibly ask for and you still lose.

24 used to be the magic number - you know how many times we've scored 24 or more points?

****ing THREE.

They need to sacrifice a live chicken or summon the ghost of Jovan Belcher or something. HARD reset needed.

I always figured we'd oscillate between God Mahomes one year and "the league's caught on to us a bit" Mahomes the next. I think that just happens, teams adjust, new ones rise up, good personnel get poached etc. But i think Detoxing is also right, a hard reset needs a relentless focus on offense and f*** balance.

Yeah we're pretty well loaded with young defensive talent at this point, its time for Veach to laser focus on the receiver room... and find Kelce' heir apparent while he's at it

Its a big ask, but its gotta happen

The OTs were the bigger problem for most of the game, I'll grant you.

But for the majority of the game, Mahomes was no better than his receivers. And it wasn't just the accuracy - it was the indecision and ultimately the tendency to just not go through his progressions. Every play was the same - back of the drop, pump fake twice, come off his reads, watch the rush, play some playground ball.

It was the stuff he did as a rookie when he had Hill and Watkins. He doesn't have them anymore - he HAS to play on time. He has to play within the structure. He isn't.

And again, Brady made it work with weapons like this because he never even tried hero ball. He was ALWAYS on time. Robotic, almost. And that's where Mahomes has to be if the idea is to win with lesser weapons. That was what he was last season.

He's just not that guy this year.

Interception aside, this felt like the best Mahomes has played to me since… the first half of the Chargers game. Simply because unlike the last three games, he was throwing good balls and giving our receivers the opportunity to win the game.

And they repeatedly didn’t. The Watson play you mentioned also might shed light on why Patrick has had such a lack of confidence slinging it down the field this year. I am just not convinced any receivers in this offense can be relied upon to be on their spots on time right now. You mention Brady as an example, but he at least knew Edelman and Amendola would always be where they needed to be, I’m not convinced Patrick has that confidence in any receiver and the misses yesterday seemed to suggest Patrick is right to have that uncertainty with his pass catchers.

But hey, that deep ball to MVS was the best deep ball I’ve seen Patrick throw since… the first part of 2022 maybe? Something to build on. Yesterday showed me 2022 Patrick is there, but if Watson is getting 11 targets in this offense, then the majority of the problem has come from whoever rubber stamped this roster.

They tried to keep giving him weapons but they wiffed on them. Hardman, CEH and Moore were high picks. They were just bad ones. Toney was thought to be a weapon but he's not. Rice still is not there yet. Could be.

Chris Jones is the sacrifice the same way Tyreek was.

It would be a massive mistake to pay Chris $30 million at this point. Even if the cap goes up to $250 million, his first year cap hit would be around $20 million and that would allocate over 30% of our cap to just 2 players. We can't do that and attack WR.

We also need draft picks. We only have 5. I can totally see everybody bitching bc a WR run happened again and Veach didn't trade up bc he had no assets to do so.

I think it's a worthy sacrifice bc the defense will still be good but the offense would be substantially better.

First two drives of the 2nd half stalled for exactly this reason.

He had guys open for a first down to extend a drive, and decided to LEEEROOOOY JENKINS and chuck one downfield to Watson to end one drive, and made another ill-advised decision on the other.

Also, if every single receiver on the team seems to be having the same problem, could that not be an indication that the WR coach is a bum?

Yeah - that doesn't even feel like a question to me anymore.

He's gone. And I don't have a problem with it at all. I don't know what the consensus for last night was and I know he had 2 sacks, but one of those was a maelstrom sack. The other was impressive. The problem was, as has been the case a few times this year, what's come in between the sacks. He's taking a lot more plays off than years past. He's getting straight up beat a lot more often in between splash plays.

He definitely wasn't our best defensive player last night (McDuffie and Sneed) and I don't think he was our best DL (I actually think that was Karlaftis).

Now he was better than Omenihu, who really no-showed it. And the only time I recall Nnadi doing anything was when he almost tipped away a middle-screen that went for 20 something.

But he was by no means good last night, sack totals be damned.

We've seen the best of him.
