Unpopular Thought: Trade McDuffie

The Chiefs latest dynasty run was a direct product of the Tyreek trade. Now money is tight, draft resources are slim, and the young players from Veach's great recent drafts are getting to the age to be paid so will be leaving soon. And that's aside from the glaring need for a franchise LT.

Any chance we could get back what makes it worthwhile to give him up this offseason?

Jesus.

The only real problem facing this team is LT. Everything else is ****ing easy.

So you have two options if you are Veach. You can overreact do something erratic and pray to God it works. Or you work the plan. First look at cap casualties, then the FA market, then the draft. All while knowing in you back pocket you have DJ Humphries and Kingsley. I understand there are no surefire or obvious solutions, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t opportunity.

You have to continue building trough the draft. You have to walk away from players in positions that are easier to draft (middle round guys LB, S, G). Invest high draft capital on DE, OT, and other premium positions.

I expect Veach to once again fill most holes before the draft freeing him up to take the guys who can really make a difference. As for LT, there will be good pass blocking prospects to be had in the first few rounds. We just need to do our homework.

Yes. Fix LT and the other issues become manageable.

I fully understood trading Hill at the time. Go look it up.

I gave you reasons why this wasn’t remotely a good comparison. Counter that argument if you can.

No. It’s just the reality of the situation. You can’t change it. They are not just going to give up on a talented second round pick. And DJ after an offseason to recover is not the worst thing to have around.

Enter next season projecting that broke dick DJ Humphries (who hasn’t played a full season in four years) will actually be able to return to anywhere close to his previous level of play… or go back to Kingsley who the team has already given up on at LT and are moving to guard.

The definition of insanity.

It’s not a take, it’s a question. I love the guy.

But the team has a bunch of needs coming up, and the Patriots sustained for 20 years by trading established stars for resources *shrug*

Using high draft picks on project LT’s for the third straight season you say?

Trading McDuffie, a 1st round pick and a 3rd round pick for a rookie LT prospect you say?

What if we traded Skyy Moore for Penei Sewell? That is a fair compromise, no?
