I thought it was good. It delivered the action and gore of that era. Some over the top things going on and don’t get me started on the historical inaccuracies. Yes, these are real
People from history but the history is messed up big time in the movie.

I saw this last weekend. Its pretty good. GladIIator feels like a remake instead of a sequel.

I must say the baboons that fought the slaves were very uncanny. they looked awful. and because they were CGI, it was apparent that they helped Lucius. Like when Hulk Hogan body slammed Andre the giant; Hogan was able to pull that off only because Andre helped by lifting his leg. The baboon helped Lucius when it jumped into the exact postion that ended with Lucius wrapping the manacle chain around the neck of the baboon. Lucius just held the chain and the baboon strangled itself.

I liked the rest of the movie. I dont think I will ever watch it again however

So wouldn't he be a historical non-entity to the Roman Government at that point? If history is written by the victors, he very clearly wasn't or this movie can't really exist.

yeah the rhino was supposed to be in the first movie. it got cut because Ridley wanted a real rhino. He found out that it would be very troublesome to work with one

It was written by the victors. From a college world history course 35 years ago.... The two brothers in real life hated and mistrusted each other already before thier dad died and named them co-empowers. Soon the empire was split into two camps and became one of the most corrupt reins of all rome. One brother lured the other into a meeting with mom to work it out but one brother killed the other in front of their mom.

The Denzil guy was also real but he was seen as an good admin but not emperor material. He was off on some military campaign when the brother's rein came to an end, He was seen as a compromise by all but he was killed in battle before they offered him the rein.

This movie was terrible...I guess if you are 12 years old and hopped up on Gatorade chemicals...then you might find a saltwater filled Roman coliseum full of sharks "extreme". I almost walked out after that scene...it was that stupid. Did they transport these sharks from the ocean in their chariot aquariums? Yeah... any hope of a suspension of disbelief experience was extinguished.

If you have a functioning IQ above that of a middle-schooler...stay home.

It was a shallow money grab of a movie that never should have been made. Surprised the Rock wasnt casted...that's the target audience for this dumbed-down insult of a sequel.

Mission accompli$hed...and is a film no one will ever talk about again in a month.

The first one was a classic...and why people got suckered into going to see this abomination.

If this movie spoke to them...whatever. It's still a piece of flaming shit.

Good friend of mine that I trust said this movie was awful, just ****ing awful. Said he was laughing out loud at serious crescendo moments and couldn't take the protagonist seriously. He summed it all up by saying he had no idea why this movie was made and why such great actors would attach themselves to it.

It wasn't ****ing awful. It was definitely a Direct to DVD experience with a big budget, though.

The lead actor was mediocre and Connie Nielsen was downright bad.

It's worth it for the ancient Rome spectacle. That was quite enjoyable.

Pretty much what everyone else was saying... it wasn't the worst movie I had seen but I just didn't give a shit about any character in this movie. There was no character development or anything. They just were.
