KC Bbq Tour

It looks like I Cassel'd my other thread so spin off here we go.

Your favorite Q and any recommendations therein.

This is my first poll I have attempted and the poll options were compiled off of a couple of online lists, so be gentle use lube and don't forget the reach around.

All their stuff is good and I've become a fan of the Rasberry Chipotle surprisingly. The rubs are very good too.

Gates went south long ago when Ollie left the kids to run it while he got interested in KC politics, particularly in Parks and Rec. Ollie and his wife ran a tight ship but the kids took a different idea. Portions and quality control slipped.

Q39 is good but i feel like every time i eat there it's $20 more expensive than my comparable meal at Joe's. Plus it's always busy as shit and has required a reservation for us.

I know Joe's always has a line too, but they've streamlined that process and I've never really had to wait too long to get my meal and a seat.

When I was a season ticket holder, 2005-2009, I had Gates, the one close to Sport Nutz. It was good..I think it burnt down a few years back. Also have had SmokeHouse, and another place that eludes me..think it was in Blue Springs, on the south side of I 70.
Ate at a smal place on BucknerTarsney Rd called Porky's that had Huge sandwiches.

I think places like Q39, Jack Stack use up whole briskets to make "burnt ends". I believe Joe's just uses the point to create what I think are true burnt ends. But what do I know I am just a backyard smoker.

Each to their own, but a pound of melt in your mouth BBQ flavored baby food/fat?

I like one or two bites as a side and then I want to return to something I can sink my teeth into.

Have all you geezers lost all your teeth?

Of the BBQ joints listed, I made 3 picks. I had to laugh that BB's was on the list among others. NO LC's or Zarda hell they are better than 2/3rds of the list. I understand the out of towners but locals? Maybe get out a bit farther than a few square miles. That list looks like a Yelp top 20.

Harps who I love is just so questionable because you never know if they will be open or if they will have already sold out of what you had your sights set on. If you hit it right its hard to beat.

That no one knows of Scotts Kitchen near MCI is also telling.

Q39 is for people scared of their own shadow. Will sacrifice good bbq for run of the mill just to have a safe place

May have been Zarda in Blue Springs.

Might’ve been the case at one time, but hasn’t been that way in while. If a place never runs out, and Joe’s never does, then they probably aren’t “true” burnt ends. Still good though.
