A Level Headed Review Week 3 2024

McDuffie just got his feet tangled and it effected him more than Mooney.

The Drake London TD was a blown coverage by Johnson....just a young player mistake on a WR switch route. Didn't take the pass off from Tranquill.

Worthy with a nice pitch and catch for 10 yards and follow up with a nice catch and run for 6 yards. Worthy really does seem to play defense well when the pass has a chance to be intercepted. Gah just stopped running on that route...gotta keep running through that route.

Steele really showing his mettle with some nice hard runs and good chunk yards.

Perine also with some solid runs, he is no Pacheco but between him and Steele....I can only imagine what Hunt will bring as well.

Rice has some sick moves in the open field with some of his stop and go stuff.
Gotta make that catch in the 2nd quarter just before half - in his defense Mahomes threw it a bit behind him but it was catchable.

Wanya seems to be faring well so far and as the game has gone on.

Mahomes just got fooled by a good DB on the INT.

Jones stupid mistake on the RTP that led to a score to put the Falcons up by 7. Gotta play more disciplined.

The crushing hit and fumble by FAU on Cousins was a beautiful thing to watch. Too bad the penalty for kicking the ball out of bounds isn't more stiff. I would make it a 15 yarder and a loss of down.

That pick by Connor was a perfect result of Jones destroying the OL and pushing them back into Cousins face. The second half is going to be rough for them.

The goal line series of plays, I get that we have been stuffing it down their throat but it seems like we go back to the well too much. The 2nd down play was an obvious run...should have had another play action play called. Still got. a FG but we need more TD's. FG's are going to come back and bite us.

Defense starting to look better...make Cousins find someone open and let a 3 man rush flush him.

Juju finally on the board with a catch and Tuddy. Love this for him.

Then Butler does the next to impossible and actually hits the upright square on, on the XP.

Spags with the unique and timely blitzes forcing a long FG attempt by the Falcons.

Props to Ariza for being able to snag that wild snap and still get an amazing kick off to pin ATL.

Great goal line stand, Cook with two pass breakups - the first one could have been called DPI as he never got around to make a play on the ball but the refs just let them play it out.

Where was the illegal hands to the face on Connor and was it just me or was that a very questionable DPI. The WR just ran into McDuffie standing still, I guess that's a make up call for the Cook non-call.

Killing ourselves with penalties tonight. Gotta get the silly calls (that actually happen) cleaned up.

The DEFENSE saves the day again for us. Would love to see the offense get a little more in sync but I love seeing the Defense come up big to save the win.

Here's a fun stat. Mahomes is currently ranked 33rd in the league in average depth of target amongst QBs with at least one start. 5.15 yards. Tied for last in 2023 with 6.5 average depth of target.

We have the best QB in the league and he's been reduced to a game managing YAC merchant. ****ing pathetic.

I hope worthy progresses. steele and perine were fine but Pacheco is better. I hope we get everyone healthy for the playoff run.

If herbert is hurt, we will be sitting at 4-0. What a great start.
We will get through it. Our worst is every other teams best. But until worthy becomes a legit deep threat or Hollywood gets healthy we will need to win a little ugly against good teams for a while. Which is ok, but it does make me very sad that we never got the Hollywood experience. you can see it in mahomes’ face that he’s frustrated and not having as much fun out there and I just want to see that swagger come back.

Barring some kind of trade we just have to hold out hope that somehow Hollywood or worthy can get us help sooner than expected

Bo Nix has literally no one to throw to and a below average at best line. His average depth of target is 7.6 currently.

I haven’t watched nix much but if I had to guess he’s played in a lot of negative game scripts and he is probably too young to execute an efficient offense the way mahomes can. The issue with mahomes seems to be more that defenses have so much respect for him they take away his deep looks and unlike, say, tua he’s capable of adapting by playing efficient. So it’s hard to make comparisons to other. It is a league wide issue to the point where kiper for some dumb reason is talking about banning these coverage looks to generate more offense.

I get that we need this efficiency. The part that really bothers me is… if we did increase depth of target, who would do it? Rice is probably the best candidate but he’s already overworked and excelling on catch and run. Right now worthy is so raw he’s a liability when we throw it vertical vs horizontal. Watson is a 1-2 target guy. Mecole is too inconsistent to be dependable. Even if we wanted to I’m not sure that we could.

I’m being a little facetious because we just gave bait to the biggest idiot fans. Of course I’ll take the win and the bad call. I also know this team well enough to know that we didn’t need that call to win so yeah, there’s a part of me that also knows we would have pulled this out without needing the kind of help everyone thinks we needed

Who gives a ****... we are winning games. If Mahomes throws the ball like he has in the past, we score 35 last night and maybe punt twice.

How many AFCCG and Superbowls have the Broncos won in the last 6 years... ****, a good team adapts to the game, that's what the Chiefs are doing. You would be happy with Mahomes having a depth of target of 8.4 because then we wouldn't have to bitch much about the redzone because we would rarely see it.

Yeah, by constantly relying on our defense and the other team ****ing up to close out games.

The Chiefs offense had two chances at potential game icing drives to win and they went 3 and put both times. Defense had to stop the Falcons on 4th down twice.

Mahomes is the new Brady. Defense is winning him games. (Partially joking)

I think most of us are extremely happy with this team. But we know this offense is capable of better and we are just eager to unlock mahomes again because we know this team is going to look downright dominant when he does.

We are everyone's superbowl & more. Defences will bring their best game ever, DCs will plan for the game of their life. We are three games in, that's basically pre season for Reid & Mahomes, still learning who our LT is, still building a connection with Worthy and now lost our starting RB. FWIW, i think we are missing our passing target running back. Pacheco could have had the touchdown in week 1 but he dropped it, but looking back how many crucial catches did McKinnon get, hell even CEH would get a lot of Red Zone catching TDs

Can anyone explain why the Chiefs defense sucks on the 1st drive or two of every game? They allowed 2 touchdowns in the first 20 minutes and 3 points the entire rest of the game last night. The Chiefs seem to spot everyone a 3-7 point lead and then play catch-up.
