Obviously, the Texans had a very quick rebuild. That's probably not as realistic.

But you're still better off being the Bengals, Chargers, Bills, Jags, etc. and being garbage for a few years until you find you guy.

Tomlin also hired a string of bad OCs.

And his defenses wasted some prime Big Ben years. They gave up 45 points to Blake Bortles in the playoffs.

Having a defensive minded HC is such a ****ing pain in the ass. You either can't find a good OC, or you do, and he's gone after 1-2 seasons.

I 100% prefer an offensive minded HC in today's NFL unless I already have an establish upper echelon franchise QB.

How many offensive minded hc out there that are good and consistent for decades? They all seem defensive minded.

The problem here is that you’re just not getting past the AFC top dawgs unless you get a truly great QB. You could argue the top 4 QB’s are all in the AFC and no matter what you do you’re not getting through.

A team like the Broncos with a good offensive coach and 1st rd pick that they deemed to be high potential () isn’t getting through that. You’re better off doing that plan in the NFC.

The Chargers are the only team I could see getting through bc I think Herbert is one of the best QB’s in the league and Harbaugh is a top caliber coach.

All you're doing is describing the GM/HC dynamic. Sure, the HC has some say, but the GM is doing exactly what you're saying for the overwhelming majority of the teams in the NFL.

And Reid doesn't "do it all". He hasn't since it failed miserably in Philly. Veach isn't a "yes man" GM.

Also, baseball and football are two completely different sports.

But McVay, Shannan, LaFleur, Taylor, Steichen, etc. there are plenty of young offensive minded coaches that are doing a great job. I swear you people are absolutely clueless about the NFL outside of KC.

Of course Veach isn't a yes man, he's great, but Clark hired Andy Reid before the GM because he didn't want one person in control like he had with Pioli. They work together for sure but Reid is running his program in a way that someone like Buck Showalter isn't really allowed to do in baseball anymore.

Heck just look at what happened with Belichick. Yeah yeah I know he had Tom Brady but he's probably the greatest defensive coordinator in the past 40 years. Won Super Bowls at every level he's coached and nobody would hire him. That would have been unthinkable 10 years ago.

If the NFL really gets into private equity ownership it's going to be a different ballgame. There was just some talk about this last week and the Washington owner saying it's coming, because NFL team values are so high even billionaires can't afford them.

Dude, there are plenty of teams that do it the other way around. In fact, I'm pretty sure the majority do. The Chiefs literally did it before Andy with Pioli, which is why Clark switched it up with Andy.
