If Bo Nix can lead you guys to a postseason appearance every 5 years you'll build a statue in his honor with the way your franchise is going.

If he leads us to two postseason appearances in his career, that would make him the 5th most successful QB in Broncos history behind Elway, Manning, Morton, and Plummer.

Could be worse. You could be starting a 4th round QB from last years draft who didn't complete a pass in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th quarter in the game against the Chiefs last Christmas.
If Denver was picking 6th overall this year are they taking Bo Nix? |

There are some here that like Nix. I'm not extremely high on him, but I'm not extremely low either. I've said he's likely a middle of the road starter. If so, it could be a lot worse than that. Broncos haven't had that in a decade. |

It's got to be really exciting for broncos fans to get a savior quarterback again. This only happens every second year or so.

You said that he immediately transformed under Payton, but his numbers only went up because he threw a lot more passes. TD% and comp% both went down in his first year in NO. The only improvement was INT%, but that was lower two years earlier in San Diego. He also had a lot of talent around him in NO and was entering his prime years. As for what was special about his stats? Welp, this is awkward, but.....his 2004 season was statistically better than any season in Elway's entire career. It would be his highest TD total, fewest INTs, lowest INT%, highest Y/A, and by far his highest comp% and QB rating. And only a few years after Elway retired. Quote:

One thing I sincerely believe is that it didn't matter where they were, they weren't interested in taking McCarthy, Penix, or Maye. So maybe if they're at 6, they get cute and trade back far enough so that the Rams jump them and take Nix - because at that point, the Falcons would not yet have done whatever it was that they ended up doing, sending the QB-needy teams into a panic. Who knows? I wasn't excited about Nix before the draft, to be honest. The reason for my bullishness now is that in any scenario, our immediate future is going to be tied to Sean Payton. It doesn't matter if we like that or don't like it. It's just reality. And I feel that Payton's enthusiasm about Nix was genuine. So, Payton having the guy he wants eliminates a giant hurdle (or excuse, depending on your perspective) with shortening the path to being competitive again.
