Rice is good. Kelce is great. Toney is a good separator but is hurt. Hardman is a good gadget player.

I think Andy will make it work. He's using old game plans for the most part. The first drive of the game vs Miami was an easy 75 yard TD drive with a bunch of new shit.

Andy is saving his game planning for 3 games

Where do you get the "new stuff"?

There's only 17 games in a season. I don't think there's any save this or that.

Then you go find some weapons, sign Donovan Smith to a nice 3 year deal and be done.
By ‘nice’ 3 year deal, you mean market rate?

Look at the scripted 15 in Germany. That's what this offense is capable of, when everyone is doing their jobs correctly.

Script or no, if talent is the problem, those two TD drives don't look like that.
Mahomes suddenly became an “inconsistent” QB?

Andy Reid suddenly became an “inconsistent” play caller?

It’s the WR’s stupid… JFC.

There is not one WR on this roster that scares DC's down the field.

That makes the efficiency plays from last year hard to do because teams are now daring us to throw it over their heads and we don't have the stick anymore.

Neither has ever happened before for stretches?

We've seen it before. There are a LOT of new pieces this season, and some of them are young and inconsistent and so there is a domino effect. Everything affects everything.

It's not a dearth of 'raw talent'.

It is a little bit of everything.

Whom did we have last year that scared DCs down the field that we don’t have now?

Are you implying that JuJu was the deep threat ‘stick’?

This reerun is still trying to pretend that it took DCs an entire season and a SB win to realize we didn't have Tyreek.

It’s a totally fair argument to have used last year. You and I went back and forth on this. I (wrongly) predicted the Chiefs at 10-7 last year because I thought the offense would struggle to find its gear without him.

But it didn’t. It immediately hit the ground running at a new speed and continued as the most efficient offense through the entire season.

So what’s changed this season? Let’s play the counterfactual and say we kept JuJu. Does anyone think that we’d be still nearly the efficient offense we had last year? Is that the singular piece we’re missing? The guy who is flailing in NE entirely due to his own lack of ability?

No. It’s definitely a little lacking someone like JuJu and our WRs failing to take that next step thus far, but it’s also teams figuring things out a bit. And it’s offense being down. And it’s a lower level of play from Mahomes (which is fine as it’s still top-5 QB stuff) and some genuine misses by Reid and the staff.

But yeah, the idea that DCs have now figured out that they can just play man and that none of the receivers scare them? This was the same shit people said all of last year when we carved people up.

I still don't get the juju hate here. For whatever reason Patrick does not trust other guys the way he does juju. He's dominated target shares in ways others haven't.

But it goes beyond juju. Defenses adjusted. Buffalo has tried a lot of the same shit with 12/13 personnel. Even with juju we needed to evolve. So it isn't just him. The fact is that we leaned hard into this catch and run thing. Ritchie James is catch and run. Toney is catch and run. Skyy was supposed to be catch and run. Rashee can run then catch but his role hasn't evolved there... Yet.

We need to adapt this offseason. In the meantime let's bandaid the thing and we should be able to be just good enough to do that

Teams played a lot more shell coverages last year which is what caused us to sputter in 2021.

We then adjusted back last year and maximized taking the short passes as teams still feared Mahomes throwing it over their heads.

MVS was one of the decoys to say we could still do it.

This year more teams are realizing there is no threat and now the throws to the flats are gone. Just Kelce and no one else moving the chains has resulted in more punts and teams are getting far more aggressive.

Is this a joke? Do you seriously not understand the point being made?

We only lost JuJu. JuJu was not our deep threat. DCs played us last year thinking that we had no one who scared them downfield. That didn’t change. That has nothing to do with not appreciating JuJu. He was very good in this offense last year.

If you want to say the offense runs less smoothly in his absence, sure. But you can’t say that in his absence we have no one who scares people downfield and that that’s new. And that’s what OP was doing.

Oh, so what you’re saying is if we had these same WRs last year, we would’ve been fine as teams didn’t know how to play us. But because we have these same WRs this year, we can’t figure things out as defenses have adapted?

It’s almost like maybe the WRs, Mahomes, and Reid all have some role in the regression. Like many of us have been saying. That it’s not just that our WRs this year are such a step down and don’t know how to play football. That it’s all more complicated and holistic than that.

Absolutely hilarious that he doesn't understand this. That's what happens when you're more worried about pushing a narrative than using basic logic.
