If she was showing choke marks on her neck and physical signs of abuse, is there any doubt that the police would have pursued it?

I don't know the exact reasons that the police declined to press the charges, but I'm betting that a complete lack of physical evidence and witness statements corroborating the story of the individual arrested would lead them to the logical conclusion that she was either lying or grossly exaggerating. Anyone ever known a woman to get all emotional and tell a story with little resemblance to actual events?
