shot a doe saturday afternoon out of my stand. worked it up last night cause the temps are up in the 50's and didn't want it hanging. i plan on grinding it all up w/bacon ends and making meat sticks.
flung an arrow at a turkey but no luck. lost my 2nd arrow so far this fall. going to have to make some more up. seen a few bucks, but where i usually hunt flooded out last week. they're down there though. i love sitting in a tree stand...could do it every day. sec

I was a little down on bow hunting, just not that excited about it this year.
Reading this thread was good medicine for that. Last night, I saw 11/2 year old buck, that was probably the tallest young buck I've seen. He had 2 main beams on the left side with no stickers, and the right side had 3 forks on the top with a lot of space between base and the flower at the top. If he makes it 3 more years, he'll probably be a very cool buck. work has been slow for the past month, and as you know it, I get 2 projects friday and this morning.....due in 3 weeks. Typical. |

baked possum:
Ingredients: 1 large possum, skinned, dressed, and washed 1 quart beer 4 tablespoons Tabasco sauce 1 1/2 tablespoon salt 2 onions, chopped 1 clove garlic, minced 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce 4 sweet potatoes 2 ribs celery, chopped 1 ounce whiskey Directions: Mix the beer, whiskey, salt, Tabasco sauce, and Worcestershire sauce together. Place possum in a large roasting pan. Sprinkle the celery, onions, and the garlic all over the possum. Pour the liquid mixture over the possum as well. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Preheat oven to 350F. Place the sweet potatoes around the possum. Bake covered for 1 1/2 hours. Baste once or twice with the marinade from the pan as the possum cooks.

I've eaten raccoon but I don't think I'd eat an opossum. I've seen one of them buried to its shoulders in a dead animals ass.
