Seeing as Bearcat banned me from the KU basketball thread for daring to use statistics to dispel the constant trashing of the team’s best player this year by far, I’ll need somewhere to put my thoughts for this year’s tournament.

In sum, the committee screwed KU again. Their resume (and wins) should have had them at at least a 6 seed and maybe even a 5. Arkansas is also the toughest matchup they could have had among possible opponents and KU matches up horribly against them (stay tuned as to why).

As far as the rest of the tournament goes, I’m picking Houston to win it all and Kentucky (fraud) to lose in the first or second round.

Also, in terms of performance, there’s not much comparison. They are the highest rated team by KenPom since 2015 UK and they sort of blow that team out of the water in efficiency rating too. If they win two more games, they’re the best NCAAB team in the KenPom era.

How much of that is Duke feasting off a historically ass ACC, though?

Also, side note, these are probably the most dominant 1 seeds historically for a season in the KenPom era 1-4. Houston, Duke, Auburn, and Florida are all historically good and most years all would be a #1 overall seed.

They’re feasting off of everybody, it’s not just the ACC.

And agreed, this will surpass 2008 in terms of quality of the FF if Houston and Auburn close this out today.

Their non-conference schedule was OK, but noted.

Duke is playing incredibly well now but I’m skeptical that they can beat Houston. I know Flagg is generational, but I don’t know if I’d trust all their freshmen vs Houston.

If they get past Houston, I think they win it all.

If Tennessee can get their running game going in the second half it should open up their passing attack. A couple touchdowns and they're right back in this thing.

You would have enjoyed watching Tennessee shoot 5% in the first half if Kansas had made it further in the tournament.... that's what I've been told by multiple people in the past couple weeks, anyway.
