Pittbulls kill 2 year old and 5 month old

Quote:
Two young children are dead and their mother suffered major injuries after two family dogs attacked a baby and toddler outside their West Tennessee home.Kirstie Bennard, 30, suffered critical injuries when she tried to intervene in the attack on her 5-month-old boy, Hollace Dean, and 2-year-old girl, Lilly Jane, family and police said.

"She put her body on top of Lilly’s to try and protect her after the attack started," Bennard's uncle by marriage, Jeff Gibson told USA TODAY on Saturday. "Both (dogs) started attacking her while she lay on Lilly."The two children were pronounced dead when officials arrived at the home, the sheriff's office reported.

It was not immediately known what provoked the mauling. The mauling, Gibson said, lasted about 10 minutes. The dogs – two pit bulls that belonged to the family – were euthanized at Memphis Animal Services Thursday.

The family owned the pets, Cheech and Mia, for more than eight years without a violent incident, Kelsey Canfield, the mother's best friend, told Fox News.

"I can promise you those children were her world, and if there was any inkling of danger, she would have never had those dogs near her kids," Canfield told the outlet. "Those children were everything to them, and they just have a really long journey ahead."

How do you feel about PittBull's? I posted this because my wife shared this story with me and my son was just recently participating in a "read to sheltered dogs" event where you could adopt a dog (I know brilliant).

I've heard the arguments that PittBull's get a bad wrap, but it seems time and time again they are the focal point of dogs who do these horrible acts.

Ok fine, that still doesn't keep anyone from being perplexed why you wont simply go get some damn spray... you can safely and humanely keep them at a distance with one simple hand

Its a far better option than trying to club some whirling devil into submission, or pulling the snubnose and subjecting yourself to the vagaries of local gun laws

Your own link shows that pit bulls are the most deadly dog by far. They cause six times as many fatalities as any other breed.

Two-thirds of all dog bite fatalities are caused by pit bulls.

Honestly that would really ****ing piss me off. But carrying a revolver is a terrible idea. Not only is it incredibly hard to hit a small target charging at you, but you are very likely to injure a bystander or damage someone's property.

If it were me, I would seriously think about carrying a KA-BAR. If that dog latches on to you or your dog, it's already too late for a gun. Hypothetically, of course.

Yes, mostly I'm concerned about starting a ****ing gunfight in the middle of the neighborhood because I shot someone's stupid dinosaur dog. Not wise.

I actually have one of those knives and that's a great idea.

Thoughts on this bear spray?

Utah woman loses leg after she's viciously attacked by son's pack of pit bulls

The 63-year-old is being treated for 'extensive injuries' to her hands, face and legs, police said

November 2, 2023

A Utah woman's leg had to be amputated after her son's pit bulls viciously attacked her in her backyard, police said.

In a press release, the Taylorsville Police Department said that their "hearts are heavy" after they responded to a 63-year-old woman's desperate 911 call saying that her son's pack of pit bulls attacked her.

A Utah woman who had leg amputated after dog attack has died, police say

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (AP) — A 63-year-old Utah woman who had a leg amputated after being attacked by her son’s dogs in her yard in a Salt Lake City suburb last week has died.

The woman, whose name has not been released, died Monday, Taylorsville Police Lt. J. Fowler said Tuesday.

The woman called 911 on Oct. 31. Responding officers found her in her yard still surrounded by the adult male and female pit bulls and their five puppies.

Officers used pepper spray to drive them away so they could get over the fence, according to police.

The adult female dog then broke loose and police shot it, officers said. The remaining dogs were surrendered by the owner.
