The only Olympic medalist I've known personally was the husband of one of my PoliSci professors. He had 2 race walking medals from the 70s.

- The runner with no lower legs is inspiring and impressive, but I'm not sure it's fair. Those metal springs may give him an advantage.
- The Red Hot Chili Pipers, LOL? I guess they can go on a double bill with the band of cellists who play Metallica music. - May and Walsh: great legs, great box-and-butt, but two of the bigger Buttafaces I've seen at the Olympics. |

Tell ya what, spanky, let's cutt off your legs below the knees and you can come back here and tell us what a great advantage you have over everyone else, mkay?

He's not alone, and it's a valid question - a number of people in the track & field world have concerns about it. If the prosthesis propels the runner further than an able-bodied runner would be able to, it's an advantage. Technology can out-perform biology in this type of activity, so care has to be taken.
Regardless, it's pretty cool... |

Did you see the race? Did you see his "legs"? You can't tell me those have the same tensile strength as actual legs. Does he get less tired bouncing on those? Does the fact that there's no toe-give make a difference? We don't know. Point being, it's inspiring and impressive, but it's a sport based on how you use your legs. It's like saying a guy should be allowed to play quarterback in the NFL, or pro tennis, or pro golf, if he has a replacement arm that automatically slings the ball for him.
