Alternate Reality Game 1: Chiefs
The original post is below in blue, but let's summarize it here based on the past few years.
1. If you're a new player, start with the current Chiefs roster. If you've been playing for a while you'll have your own evolved roster. 2. You can add any free agent that the Chiefs add. 3. You lose any free agent that the Chiefs lose, but only if they were on the Chiefs' roster when you began playing. 4. You can accept or reject any trade the Chiefs make as long as any Chiefs player involved is currently on your roster. 5. You do not get players that the Chiefs draft. You draft your own players, using the same draft picks that the Chiefs have. 6. You can trade down ONE time before the draft or after the draft. If you trade down before the draft, you get up to full value for your pick according to this chart: https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-V...-Rich-Hill.asp. (Note: this chart was updated in 2022.) If you trade down after the draft, the value of the picks you trade must be discounted by at least 25 percent. Any trade down must involve only the picks of one NFL team, and you cannot receive more than two picks more than you give up. (In other words, if you trade away one draft pick you cannot pick up more than three in return.) The other team's picks also must be picks that they held prior to the opening of the draft. See the examples at the bottom of the post. 6. You can trade up ONE time before the draft or after the draft. If you trade up before the draft, you get up to full value for your pick according to this chart: https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-V...-Rich-Hill.asp. (Note: this chart was updated in 2022.). If you trade up after the draft, the value of the picks you trade must be discounted by at least 15 percent. Any trade up must involve only the picks of one NFL team. The other team's picks also must be picks that they held prior to the opening of the draft. 7. By the beginning of the season, you must reduce your total roster to include only 53 players. Original post: You can ignore this now.
Spoiler!
Added Rules and Reminders: 1. Remember that you can draft undrafted rookies, so you don't have to select only guys who were drafted. 2. Anyone can change their rookie draft selections at any time, UNTIL we reach ten days before training camp. At that point, all picks will be locked in. 3. Each team can do ONE trade of draft picks if they like, using this chart:http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...t-trade-chart/. However, if you're trading up, you have to pay 15 percent more than the stated value of the picks you're obtaining. If you're trading down, your pick's value will be discounted by 25 percent. For example, if you want to trade up from the 20th pick in the 1st to the 10th pick, you can see from the chart that the 20th pick is worth 259 points. The 10th pick is normally 369 points, but by paying 15 percent more, it will cost you 1.15*369, or 424 points. So you would need to come up with another 165 points to make the deal (424-259) For example, if you want to trade down from the 20th pick in the 1st and pick up the 10th pick in the 2nd, your 20th pick would normally be worth 259 points, but in this game it will be worth 25 percent less, or 194 points. The 10th pick in the 2nd is worth 142 points, so you can get 52 points back from the other team. (Remember that you cannot pick up more than two extra picks in the trade, so consider your math carefully.) You can do only ONE draft-pick trade up and ONE draft-pick trade down, and in each case you can only trade with one other team for their own picks. (In other words, you couldn't take the 52 points in the above example from a third team.) Last edited by Rain Man; 04-25-2024 at 11:30 AM.. |

Question 937...
If the Chiefs drafted a player that you chose not to draft (e.g. Ramik Wilson) and they subsequently release that player but later re-sign him to the roster or practice squad, can you choose to then add that player as a free agent addition since they technically are a FA at that point? |

This would effectively stop anyone from picking up players that are bounced between the active roster and the PS as well, since the player has to clear waivers in that process and is effectively a FA when signed in either direction. Basically, we're setting the following ways to add players to your roster: 1. Draft a player. 2. The Chiefs sign a free agent that had prior contractual obligations to another team to their active roster. 3. The Chiefs sign an undrafted free agent to their active roster. Any of the above may first go to the practice squad, then to the active roster, but the other prerequisites must hold. Last edited by kccrow; 06-26-2017 at 05:19 PM.. |

My rookie report is as follows after one preseason week. The draft spots are mine, not the NFL's.
5th round QB Nathan Peterman is playing well enough that some people are calling to move him up to the #2 QB spot as a rookie. He's currently listed with the 3rd string. 2nd round RB Alvin Kamara is impressing, and appears to be positioning himself for a prominent role in passing situations. He's listed as third string behind Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson, but is positioned for playing time. 3rd round RB Samaje Perine came out with the first string in the recent game, but had a bad preseason debut for a number of reasons, and was called out by the coaches. He's listed as 3rd string, though. 7th round WR Malachi Dupre was sent to the hospital after being hit in the face after a catch. He's in concussion protocol. He's the 4th string WR at the moment. 3rd round G Dorian Johnson appears to be the third string RG for the Cardinals at the moment. 4th round FS Desmond King is currently the third string FS in San Diego, though reports are that he's in a three-way fight for the starting job, and it's "open". He's avoided the Chargers injury curse so far. 6th round OLB Ejuan Price is currently listed on the 3rd string for the Rams, and I'm not seeing any camp reports about him. It'll be hard for him to beat out Robert Quinn for the starting spot this year, and he needs to beat Matt Longacre out of the #2 spot first. 1st round DE Taco Charlton is listed as the 2nd-string RDE in Dallas behind Tyrone Crawford, and apparently has been pounded by the coaching staff. 6th round DE Ifeadi Odeinigbo is currently listed as the 3rd-string LDE amid reports that he's played well in camp but made mistakes in the first preseason game. Danielle Hunter and Brian Robison are two veterans in front of him. 5th round DT Caleb Brantley broke a finger (his own, not his girlfriend's) a couple of weeks ago and hasn't been practicing. He's apparently back on the field now, but is buried at 4th on the depth chart at DT. It appears that Kamara and Peterman are my two camp stars, and Dorian Johnson isn't making the progress I expected.

As for my picks... I like the flashes a few are showing: Mahomes, Blair Brown, Stacy Coley, Chris Carson, and Zane Gonzalez have all been impressive. I can't say Watkins has looked terrible, but he isn't going to start this year. |

Draft Pick Report Update
1-010: Patrick Mahomes II, QB, Texas Tech (10 KC) Appears to be locking in the #2 spot in Kansas City and has definitely shown he'll be the future. 2-059: Tanoh Kpassagnon, DE, Villanova (59 KC) Has flashed some abilities, but definitely has some development to do. KC really needs to lock him into a position, but it seems they are just trying to get another pass rusher on the field in multiple ways at this point. Listed as 2nd string RDE. 3-104: Dorian Johnson, OG, Pittsburgh (115 ARZ) Remains buried on the depth chart as the #3 RG, which is concerning to me. 4-132: Carlos Watkins, DT, Clemson (142 HOU) As of most recent depth chart, was moved to 3rd string RDE. 3 tackles in 1 GP in preseason 5-148: Blair Brown, ILB, Ohio (148 JAX) Currently listed as 3rd string WLB. 13 tackles in 3 GP in preseason 5-180: Aaron Jones, RB, Texas El-Paso (182 GB) Currently listed as 3rd string RB. Limited action in 2 games. with only a handful of touches. 6-218: Stacy Coley, WR, Miami (219 MIN) Buried on depth chart, outside 6 at this point. Looked good with limited touches (5 for 84) and has did some returning so far. 7-222: Zane Gonzalez, K, Arizona State (224 CLE) In camp battle with Cody Parkey for the starting gig. has made his only FG attempt and both XP. 7-245: Christopher Carson, RB, Oklahoma State (249 SEA) Not sure where he sits exactly, but with Rawls and Procise out he started against KC. He'll make the team. 21 carries for 92 yards w/ 2 td and 4 rec for 64 yards. |

Okay, we need to cut down to 53 before opening day.
I've got some interesting choices to make.

Also want to clarify that we only lose FA's and not guys the Chiefs decide to waive (for instance if we had Maclin and Howard and wish to continue to retain them, can we). Last edited by kccrow; 09-02-2017 at 05:38 PM.. |

Cardinals waived OG Dorian Johnson.
Johnson was a highly ranked prospect who fell to the fourth round of this year's draft simply because of medical concerns, so it is surprising to see him on the cut list. The Cardinals likely hope he will slip through waivers and to their practice squad. |
