Not reacting well to old school hard ass coaching for a young man in today's world is not unusual. You are blaming him for things that happened when he was 21. He is a much more mature man today as evidenced by his record starting for years in a row.

3 years with no problem and going to a Pro Bowl. Then hurts his back but comes back and plays most of the next year until his knee gets blown out.

Based on your posting recently, you should try to find something good in your life. You seem to see the negative on most anything posted.

I certainly would have no plans to resign him either unless it was on the super cheap. But for this year he's our ride or die.

I've been a homer on here more than most. This is Veachs very best mid season pickup this year. I love the add for this season. But, he wants a long term contract, he will get one, just shouldn't be us.

Big-time money contract for a 30 year old with an injury history is not a Veach type of signing.

I said "I'm not saying he half assed it or didn't hit the weight room." I just was saying that playing on a shitty team is a shitty excuse for not doing those things. I also said I think he will hold up the rest of the season. I didn't blame him for a single thing and also said that Bruce Arians is a ****ing idiot.

Also see the negative on most anything? Most of my posts the last several days are sticking me sticking up for Wanya Morris. Wtf have I been negative about?

***Here’s some more DJ Humphries viagra.

If you remove DJs rookie year, he has the following stats:

Over his career, DJH has pass blocked a total of 3467 snaps.

He’s only given up the following…

174 pressures (1 pressure every 20 pass block reps)
21 sacks allowed. (1 sack every 165 pass block reps!)

To give some perspective, here are Eric Fishers #s with his rookie year removed.

5017 pass block reps
305 pressures (1 pressure per 16 pass block reps)
41 sacks (1 in every 122 PBRs)

How about we go nuts and compare to Trent Williams…

6827 pbr (rookie year removed to be fair)
32 sacks (only one sack every 213 pbrs)
288 pressures (one every 23.7 pbrs)

Obviously, Trent is a HOFer and DJ isn’t, but these numbers show that DJ is better than Fisher was and is probably somewhere between Fisher and Silverback in terms of effectiveness and that’s extremely exciting to think about him protecting Pats blind side. I hope he stays healthy and can help Pat become comfortable in the pocket again.

Get used to the fact DJ Humphries will be this teams LT the next 2-3 years. This is the best we can expect.

He will be a 31 year old free agent that will have a very limited market and his injury history will limit that market even further to where KC should be able to get him at a very reasonable contract with no more than a first year of guarantees. Pair that with the hopeful continued development of Kingsley and Wanya, and that gives us options if DJ were to miss time.

He’s going to come in and solidify the LT position for us and that’s HUGE for this offense. No way Veach doesn’t give him Trey Smiths $$.

Assuming he plays okay and is not hobbled, I think this almost has to be right. We can't go into next year with Morris / Kingsley at LT and we don't have many options, really.

His injury scared me but the player gives me hope.
He had a horrible rookie season like Kingsley and made it.

They need to put DJ’s locker next to Kingsley’s. That kid needs a mentor in the worst way and until yesterday there wasn’t a LT on this roster from him to learn from

I agree, if he is healthy and reasonably close to his usual this is an incredible pick up...particularly considering the position played. OT's with any talent just aren't available at this point of the year. I'm all for making sure he is ready before unleashing him. We need him ready for the stretch ahead.

I also think/hope that he can be our LT solution for the next about three years. We will have to pay him, but hopefully within the context of what we can afford. During that time, we may get lucky with either Kingsley or Morris living up to expectations, and it would be particularly great if that happened with Kingsley. We might get really lucky in the draft. But we will never be in a draft position where we can expect to get a top LT

If things worked out as I expect/hope we will probably Let go of Smith and use that money For Humphrey’s contract and Morris will replace Smith. I haven’t seen any commentary on this, but presumably Humphrey doesn’t have a history of excessive penalties. That will be a plus as well.

Over reaction planet in full tilt. The injury history is our only chance at having a upper end LT that we can afford. My prediction is he's ok here this year. We resign him on an incentive type contract where games played are a factor. He holds it down for 2-3 years and we have Driskell and Kingsley developing. Kingsleys blood first cousin was talked about as a bust his first season and is now one of the best LT's in the league. If this guy was prime Jason Peters we couldn't afford him anyway next year.

That's all we need. If he allows most plays to develop and doesn't get Mahomes killed we win the super bowl again. He needs to not suck. That's it. That's all.

Don't be a complete failure and allow the truly amazing players to do their thing. Just don't be the reason a play doesn't work.

Well, he certainly talks the talk. If there was any question whether they view him as just a depth guy or a starter, that PC makes it clear how he views himself.
