They went and paid a RT, drafted another weapon for the QB. At some point, yeah, the highest paid QB in the league needs to play better. |

I would say it is not just not replacing Juju but also that teams last year were still playing us like we had Tyreek. Last year we got great efficiency even with pop gun weapons because the book on KC was to play zone with safeties deep. Last year we adjusted back to that and ran the ball and took the easy plays. This year those plays aren't there because the Chiefs mystique is over with. Denver just said nope, not scared. And then proceeded to play us in a way no one had dared last year. And they got away with it because we don't have a way to punish that. No one is scared of anyone on our team going deep now. Our highest paid WR is a decoy that can't track a football.

The check downs to the flat aren't going for 8-15 yards anymore. Why should they? When only one player scares a defense they can man up the rest of our team with anyone with a pulse. Our highest paid WR and deep threat didn't need Ramsey or Rhodes on him.

![]() Your entire narrative doesn't even make sense because we didn't have that guy last year. It didn't take an entire ****ing season and a SB for the rest of the NFL to realize we no longer have Tyreek. Are you really this stupid? |

IIRC, Mahomes has been better vs man this year than any zone coverage. |

It's your position that it took NFL defensive coordinators an entire NFL season - including postseason - to realize we don't have Tyreek Hill anymore? Okaaaaaaay......

Mahomes was operating in scripted plays where he was comfortable playing on time and firing the football. And the offense worked as well as it ever has. Got out of the scripted plays and he went back to working outside of the rhythm of the offense.

PFR Advanced WR statistics through Week 9:
https://www.pro-football-reference.c...g_advanced.htm Some of the lowlights: KC WRs lead the league in drops. Two of the Chiefs WRs have drop rates in the top-11 (worst) of all WRs through Week 9. No other team has more than one WR in that list, and only two teams have multiple WRs in the 'top' 15, DAL and CAR. And those four WRs all have better drop rates than KC's two WRs. According to PFN, Rice currently 'leads' the league in drop rate, with 16.7%, with toney in '2nd place' at 15.8%. Rice, MVS, Justin Watson, KT, and Skyy account for 5 of Mahomes' 8 INTs in 2023 when targeted through Week 9, or 62.5% of Pat's total INTs on the season. Rice is the only KC WR with a Passer Rating over 100 when targeted. Three of the top 5 KC WRs possess PRs below 78 (Justin Watson/KT@78.1/77.5 respectively, and then Skyy at 57). For reference, Demarcus Robinson never had a season in KC with a Passer Rating of less than 93.7, and during his four years in KC his PR average was 106.8.

But the book on KC for years and how best to play us was written and teams don't adjust as fast as you think they do. Even with crap WR's there is a risk to playing that way against Mahomes because he can buy time and is lethal once the play breaks down. 2021 lull was all about teams taking away the verticals. 2022 efficiency was all about KC adjusting back and taking efficiency. 2023 is the DC's striking back and not giving us last year's efficiency stuff as easily.

Andy is notoriously known for his use of the screen game. We haven't seen much of that from the RB spot this year.
Usually you do that when you get man coverage. Would seem to parlay itself to evidence here. |
