In 3 games against KC, he's intercepted Mahomes twice. Once was the Tyreek deflection you remember, the other was a Mahomes pass nearly in the dirt towards Skyy Moore. Originally ruled incomplete, it was overturned after review.

Aside from that he’s pretty much been non-existent

I'm sure he's doing a decent job. It's just that if other DBs can be exploited more easily, then you exploit them. No good reason to test Surtain.

"Team accomplishments" should not impact any player who has established greatness at the position and was considered consistently great from being enshrined in the PFHOF.

If you just stick with team accomplishments then that's how the Aikmans of the world get in.

And thankfully that's largely been the case with the voters, I find.

But hey... there are definitely a few borderline cases whose resumes have been furthered or carried along by the teams they played for. It IS a boost to the resume for certain players.

A few trolls were uttering Julian Edelman as a future HOFer in the media and everybody smacked that notion down hard, but unfortunately the damage has been done. I think something that wasn't even worth a thought has now entered into peoples' minds, and there are going to be some loonies out there serously pushing it. All in the name of "The story of the NFL..." which is the singlemost determining clause responsible for unmerited HOF inductees.

The NFL has always rewarded good players on great teams over great players on bad teams...

Lynn Swann is in the HOF for example.
