Lou will likely be the fall guy, but this is absolutely on the front office.
The amount of talent they've let leave with no return is completely asinine. Operating as a skin flint organization may have already completely slammed their window shut, which is insane to think about.

I get it, the defense lost several key players.

But here's the thing: really good coaches adapt/overcome. And DCs have to find their identity, just like OCs. Stop the run or rush the passer or whatever. Find something your unit can do. Anarumo didn't do that. And in spite of his reputation, his unit is trending down, not up.

Hell, they aren't even treading water. They're sinking like the Titanic. By the end of next week they'll probably be giving up an average of 36+ pts/gm, a TD worse than the former worst defense in the league, CAR at 30pts/gm.

Even Bowles' defense is trending back up. Albeit incrementally, but they're giving up almost a FG less than they were 4 or so weeks ago. And they were so thin at CB that they couldn't even run dime until 3 weeks ago, and they still have a PS LB starting for them, I think.

Anarumo may call a good game and have a nice scheme, but he isn't showing that he can adapt when he doesn't have the best players, which reminds me of Sutton.

Maybe I'm just wrong. Wouldn't be the first time. But that's just how it feels to me. Ymmv.

Remember when I compared the Burrow Bengals to the 80s Giants because they stumped the Niners a few times

They're more like...the Jim Everett Rams

Congrats on beating the dynasty a couple times and getting no rings!
