The Jays already missed the window to trade Guerrero. Their farm system sucks and their division is brutal. Soto and Ohtani turned down their money.

They had no choice but to extend Guerrero, sadly. Their big market fan base would have revolted had he walked. They would have been stuck with a roster highighted by Anthony Santander, Daulton Varsho, Kevin Gausman and Andres Gimenez had he walked with no prominent young reinforcements.

They probably won't even see a young player of Guerrero's caliber for at least 4-5 years.

RIP Octavio Dotel. He was pulled from the rubble of a DR nightclub after the roof collapsed and sadly succumbed to his injuries. Pitched briefly for the Royals in 2007. He was 51.
