Pittbulls kill 2 year old and 5 month old

Quote:
Two young children are dead and their mother suffered major injuries after two family dogs attacked a baby and toddler outside their West Tennessee home.Kirstie Bennard, 30, suffered critical injuries when she tried to intervene in the attack on her 5-month-old boy, Hollace Dean, and 2-year-old girl, Lilly Jane, family and police said.

"She put her body on top of Lilly’s to try and protect her after the attack started," Bennard's uncle by marriage, Jeff Gibson told USA TODAY on Saturday. "Both (dogs) started attacking her while she lay on Lilly."The two children were pronounced dead when officials arrived at the home, the sheriff's office reported.

It was not immediately known what provoked the mauling. The mauling, Gibson said, lasted about 10 minutes. The dogs – two pit bulls that belonged to the family – were euthanized at Memphis Animal Services Thursday.

The family owned the pets, Cheech and Mia, for more than eight years without a violent incident, Kelsey Canfield, the mother's best friend, told Fox News.

"I can promise you those children were her world, and if there was any inkling of danger, she would have never had those dogs near her kids," Canfield told the outlet. "Those children were everything to them, and they just have a really long journey ahead."

How do you feel about PittBull's? I posted this because my wife shared this story with me and my son was just recently participating in a "read to sheltered dogs" event where you could adopt a dog (I know brilliant).

I've heard the arguments that PittBull's get a bad wrap, but it seems time and time again they are the focal point of dogs who do these horrible acts.

This is why you never dress your child as a dog chew toy for Halloween.

In all seriousness, kid probably entered a room where the dog was and he was wearing a mask. Dogs don't understand Halloween costumes and dog treated the kid as an intruder. Really foolish to leave the kid alone in a costume with a dog of that size and power.

I'd say the much more foolish decision is to have a known psychotic, murderous dog breed in their home to begin with.

Parents who have a pit bull in the house with young kids are asking for this. They might as well leave a pistol on the coffee table.

I unearthed similar research in another thread some years back...people should do their homework when entertaining the idea of owning these dogs.

Not surprised by that part. Seeing someone with one instantly changes my perception of that person TBH

That's been my experience over the years. It damn sure was when my son got attacked by a pitbull. Some scumbags dog sitting on their front porch when my son walked by on the sidewalk. Found out the dog ran loose a lot by a neighbor.
If my son wasn't the big ol boy he is it could have been real bad. Said he made it almost past the next house when he heard a noise behind him. Turned around in time to see the Pitbull launched himself at him. The dog latched onto my son's left thigh and started shaking, trying to rip a chunk out. Matt said he pounded its head with his fists, but it didn't do any good. Finally, he started gouging its eye out with his thumb. Then it finally let go and backed off. My son back away until he could turn and get the hell outta there. Ended up with 20 stitches rabies shots, and a hospital bill.
The owner of the dog was shacking up with the chick who rented the house. Big surprise nobody knew where he ran off to after he found out what his dog did. No insurance of course.

Utah woman loses leg after she's viciously attacked by son's pack of pit bulls

The 63-year-old is being treated for 'extensive injuries' to her hands, face and legs, police said

November 2, 2023

A Utah woman's leg had to be amputated after her son's pit bulls viciously attacked her in her backyard, police said.

In a press release, the Taylorsville Police Department said that their "hearts are heavy" after they responded to a 63-year-old woman's desperate 911 call saying that her son's pack of pit bulls attacked her.

The incident happened outside the woman's mobile home in Taylorsville.

Officers said they responded to the woman's call at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, saying that she had been "attacked and bitten by several dogs" that belonged to her 38-year-old son who lived with her.

Her son allegedly owned two adult pit bulls, along with their five pit bull puppies.

Once first responders arrived, they were "aggressively greeted" by the dogs and found the injured woman still surrounded, police said.

Officials used pepper spray to contain the dogs while paramedics rushed into the yard to retrieve the woman.

The woman was rushed to a local hospital where she remains in critical condition.

Police say she was treated for "extensive injuries" to her hands, face and legs. One of the woman's legs had to be amputated as a result of the brutal attack, police said.

Taylorsville Police Chief Brady Cottam said that the woman's quick actions to call 911 "likely" saved her life.

"This is a tragic situation involving a mother and her son’s dogs in the backyard of their home," Chief Cottam said in a statement. "Our hearts are heavy following this incident, and we are grateful the victim was able to call 911 for help as quickly as she did — even as the attack was happening. It likely did save her life."

Once the woman was safely removed from her yard, animal control officers attempted to approach the pit bulls.

Authorities said that the mother dog broke loose from the group, and police shot and killed the dog.

Police said that they shot the dog to protect themselves and the animal control officers on the scene.

The woman's 38-year-old son turned the five puppies and the father dog over to the West Valley City Animal Services, and they are investigating the attack along with the police department.

The most well mannered, polite dog ive ever encountered and i barely did shit to train her. She just gets it.

On top of that, she's prissy AF. Had no idea dogs could be so....prissy? She wont pee anywhere another dog has been, and absolutely refuses to get her paws dirty.

If you try to walk her into the dirt, she'll fight it. If you do manage to get her into the dirt/mud/water etc, she'll literally stand there with one paw in the air like, "aww hell nah, i am NOT getting my paws dirty". I laugh every time.
Yeah my dachshund is the same way. He hates getting his feet or any other part of his body wet. He doesn't do mud or snow and absolutely loathes the cold weather. He's such an awesome dog. It's like having the good parts of a perpetual toddler that never really grows up without many of the bad parts. He also has an ego and will stop whatever he's doing if you're laughing at him. They're defintely a unique breed as they have such large personalities. In fact he reminds me more of a little chimp or something than a K9.
