Your yearly "Get DirecTV to discount NFL Sunday Ticket" thread

Just called in and got it for free again....plus a $10 bill credit for 12 months and a $5 bill credit for 6 months.

Didn't even have to haggle with the guy.

Anybody else tried yet?

I don't care if they offer me a free YEAR at this point, these mother****ers can pound sand.

They double charged me for the McGregor fight, haven't applied my $62.99 credit for STMax when I cancelled before the season starts, and generally have a "don't give a **** if a customer of 17 years" cancels.

Looks like I'll be going with Hulu Live or PS Vue.

Gonna miss Sunday Ticket. Not gonna lie.

But Christ, we can cut our bill by like 70% going with a streaming service. We're paying $180+ and don't even have the biggest package.

Guess my Sundays have been freed up.

That's crazy. I have every channel, HD and DVR service and my bill is $100.31 a month.

Direct TV is run like a bazar in Zanzibar.

Edit: You could just do the bare bones DTV service for $30 a month just to have Sunday Ticket.

I don't get their customer service. I've literally called in multiple years and said "cancel NFL Sunday ticket....it's too expensive" and gotten it for free. Some years I have to fight tooth and nail to get it.

Hit me up, I'll give you the best possible ways to make up for it while cutting the cord. No promises, live sports are the most difficult part of cutting the cord by a large margin. But it's not all despair. Streaming has made a huge jump in the last year. Bandwidth is much more accessible, especially from crazy European locations from where "Less legal" streams originate. Live streams are more available, and in much better quality these days. Live sports streaming is as good as it's ever been. You just have to figure out the best ways to access it. Currently for me, that's a Mac Mini that can do Chrome Flash/HTML content. Running KODI that does all movie/TV that Netflix doesn't cover. I use a custom bluetooth remote that can control my TV, Bluray, Mac mini, AV receiver, etc. Gyro mouse support, with full keyboard on the bottom side of the remote with a full QWERTY keyboard to type data(Movie/TV names, etc.)

It's not perfect. But I can tell you what to do for the best results, and you can decide for yourself if it's worth it to go back to what you had.

I use a combination of OTA antenna, which gives me all local stations, plus WE, CW, Grit (mostly all day westerns. Love it), ion, Qubo for kids, myTV movies, etc. Plus SlingTV, which gives me just about all college football/basketball/NHL games and a majority of Royals games. Also NFL Network, PGA, most common cable channels, some random DVR movies, etc. for $25-40 depending on what all you want. The rest of the Royals/etc games sometimes not available there, I use http://www.wiz1.net/schedule. Which requires Flash. But is super reliable for just about all live sports/MMA/etc. !!Virus/Malware/Adware scanner absolutely necessary!(I recommend the combination of Avast virus scanner, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro, and AdBlock web browser plugin. The AdBlock plugin will mostly eliminate the annoying troublesome ad popups and tricks that prevent you from clicking the right link. Most of the streams these days are very near HD quality. Buffering isn't as much of a problem as it used to be. Admittedly, I have Google Fiber with about the best transfer rates you can have. So I'm a little spoiled, and your experience could vary depending on your service provider.

I make it work for me, and vary rarely ever miss any event I'm wanting to watch. It's a pain sometimes, having to switch between different inputs and stuff. But when you're saving hundreds of dollars a month, it quickly becomes bearable. Hit me up for whatever questions your have. I'll help you get started if that's the direction you want...

Just added it up, and it's actually $170 - which is still insane.

Xtra Package, HBO, SHO and Regional sports fee of $4.xx comes to $123.51

****ing equipment fees are $45. HD fees, DVR fees, extra receiver fees, etc.

Local tax included the bill comes to $169.99.

Yeah, I can't go that crazy. Christ, the Mrs. gets pissed when she can't remember how to get the Xbox up and running and get to Netflix. She better learn quick now...

Plus, this is already going to be an issue for us, because two of the three TV's in the house are older - which means I'm not sure if I can ever hook up our spare Apple TV or some other box/stick. Might be limited to one TV for a while.

I'll likely be getting PS Vue or Hulu Live - whatever allows me to get my local sports and HBO.

I called this morning with a DVR issue and received Sunday Ticket for free.

I was ready to switch to the Direct TV Now Streaming App because the "Gotta Have It" package has everything but the Sports Package (which I rarely use because most things are blacked out) for $70 a month. If I add Showtime, HBO, Starz and Cinemax, it's $96 a month before tax, which is far less than the Satellite deal.

The only problem is that Direct TV Now doesn't have Sunday Ticket! How ****ing stupid is that? It's a "Rights Issue" between Direct TV and the NFL. Hopefully, it's resolved before next season because I have 235mbps download speed, which is more than capable of streaming Direct TV Now.

thank you, after reading your post, I just did the exact same thing, I was on the line with the tech and when he asked me if there was anything else I needed, I said "honestly, I've gotten Sunday Ticket free every year, and would like it again", and he said let me check for ya, came back and got it

Lower ratings? DTV don't give no ****s.....

DirecTV raising prices for NFL Sunday Ticket package

NFL fans who watch games on DirecTV’s Sunday Ticket are going to pay a little more next season.

According to tvanswerman.com, the basic Sunday Ticket package price is increasing from $281.94 in 2017 to $293.94 for games this fall. Add in a package that includes the Red Zone channel and the Fantasy channel, and the cost will be $395.94.

This will be the first year that I’m paying full price. And I’m only doing it because I won’t be with DirectTv. We’re currently checking out the different options like Vue and YouTube.tv.

I’ll pay full price if they won’t budge again but I’ll freeze my acct for 6 months till the season starts so I’ll pay $120 over the course of the freeze instead of $800 and see if I have leverage there for a free year of Sunday ticket.
