****Our Wide Receivers Suck- Official Thread****

They can’t get open, they drop passes in their hands, their jet sweeps are slow and terrible. These guys are not good.

I don't remember you ever saying that Toney is one of the worst WRs on the team. I think you even said the opposite, but you predicted he wouldn't put up big numbers due to availability. Nice try.

One thing I DO remember you saying.....over.....and over.....was that Richie James was the best WR on the team. Where's that one on your list? I must've missed it.

Yep, exactly my thoughts. Chiefs have to find a real solution for Mahomes over the long haul. Travis not going to be there forever and the front office chose Chris Jones over Patrick's 2nd favorite receiver in Tyreek. Figure out, find someone that can get the job done.

They don't need to be Kelce or Tyreek level players, but they need to at least be able to catch the football when it hits them in the hands. That's the bare minimum requirement and there are a ton of random dudes out there who could do this for the team, but somehow they've ended up with a group that struggles with it.

So, basically, we should throw away the rest of Toney's NFL and college experience and judge him solely on one game in which he played around 11 snaps after missing all of camp and preseason?

I don't think he was ever viewed as a long-term option for the team. Just my two cents. They wanted to use some of his athletic traits on a cheap rookie contract and then let him walk, like Hardman and whoever else. With Toney's injury history and the bad contract they gave to Sammy Watkins, I don't think they will go down that path with Toney over the long haul.

I'm talking long term you need to find reliable options, like Brady seemed to have with dudes like Edelman/Welker, etc for so many years.

James looks incredibly slow and delicate on the returns. Like his feet are in sand.

James might be our best WR. Ive said MVS or James will be our best WR thr first part of the season and that Rice could become that by the end of the year.

Hes me saying what I said about Toney before the season started...

I was commenting more on the opinion that no one on the team can catch a simple pass. That seems like a gross overreaction to one night, which was really just a terrible outing for one guy who has never had an outing close to that in his life.

Unless this gets in Toney's head, I don't see this being a big issue for him going forward. It never has been before. Rice is the only one I'm concerned about with drops longterm, because that's been a problem for him before.

Rice made some very positive plays after the drop. Hopefully Toney will get his act together. It's hard to imagine him playing that bad in any other games this year. And Moore? Looks like a bust, which is very unfortunate with a 2nd round pick.

This is like deja vu to the meltdown this forum had after we lost to the Colts in 2019 without Hill.

Idk when our fanbase will finally learn to not lose their shit over a regular season game.

Context is important. You made it pretty clear that your Toney takes were based on his injury history. Or did you actually think that a healthy Toney would be the least valuable of the 7 receivers? And James the most valuable?

Both of those takes are going to age poorly, and I'm betting you won't make an announcement about how wrong you were later in the year.
