Like others here, would love to see us nab Norwell + some low cost prove-it deals for guys with high upside. We need a somewhat splashy pick up after losing Peters.

Updated: I think the Chiefs should make the following players top priority in FA to fix the defense:
Shamar Stephen DL Just turned 27 yesterday. He’s 6’5” 310 lbs and is an above average run defender. We desperately need size and strength up front to help stop the run. This is the highest priority on the list because you will be hard pressed to find a guy with this size and strength ready to play immediately in the draft. Kenny Vacarro S Safety is a disaster right now and this guy would go a long way towards fixing it. Justin Ellis NT Can’t rely on the draft to get good production here in 2018. This guy will eat up blockers. Mike Pennel NT This guy would be an amazing get, but it’s hard to see him being available with the Jets having so much money. Christian Jones ILB Fast coverage ILB who is only 27. Really good fit for the nickel. I think he’d make a big impact there.

I think it was rotoworld mentioned Sheard will move to DE from 34 OLB with the colts scheme change. He did both in New England. John Simon however is more of a pure 34 OLB imo. With last years player for player swap with Seattle and the lbs and the Smith trade including Fuller it’s obvious Veech is comfortable exploring those deals which is great and saves draft capital. Say a Nelson or Murray swap for Simon as just an example but I think he would help depth wise. He’s got a motor and a good special teamer. I think at only 25 OLB Aaron Lynch is worth a long look because his play slipped when he moved to DE with the 49ers switch to the 4-3. A prove it contract would be tempting with the 6’6 270 lynch. A guy I liked coming out of Utah is Raiders S Keith McGill. Kind of a tweener he could be worth a one year deal to see if he can carve out a backup role and possible match up player in sub sets depending on opponent. Nothing gung ho but just some thoughts. Simon and McGill are both 28 I believe

Sheard was a lot less impressive playing in the Pats flex system the prior year vs the Colts 3-4 in '17. That's why I think they could possibly make him available.

The Charlotte Observer's Joe Person believes it is "highly doubtful" the Panthers re-sign impending free agent OG Andrew Norwell.
Person believes GM Marty Hurney made his decision on Norwell when he signed fellow OG Trai Turner to a four-year, $45 million extension last year. Carolina probably does not want even more money invested in the guard position, making it likely they let Norwell walk. Easily the best interior lineman available, Norwell will be looking for something close to the five-year, $60 million deal Kevin Zeitler landed last spring. |

I think he's going to barely eclipse what Zeitler got a year ago.

I would be for that. He would be a nice addition. I just remember reading a rotoworld snippet that they were leaning to keeping him.

The ny papers have norwell being pursued by the giants because their new GM originally signed him.

KC did also sign DT T.Y. McGill to a futures deal recently. Pretty young still and has a handful of sacks in limited roles. Nothing fancy but a good futures min deal

I don't have any inside info, so hell they might. I just don't think it would be the best move for the Colts and his best value for them would be in a trade.

Ballard sure isn’t afraid to wheel and deal so it will definitely be worth keeping tabs on

I think you have to look at FAs that are under 28 years old. The direction of this team all but shows that outright
