Veach setting up for DT in 1st?

With the moves in free agency so far and the re-signings leading up to free agency, Veach seems to be setting up to draft a DT in Round 1, but no later than Round 2.

Looking at all the draft gurus in here. Is there a DT worth drafting at 31?

Would love to land a legit speed rusher opposite the Greek.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Same here with Princely, but we did spend a visit with him at the combine and I've noticed he has crept up boards to the 30s now. He seems a bit light for Spags but he can sure pressure the pocket.

I'd much rather a more stout guy like Scourton, Tuimoloau, or Sawyer.

I think people are really sleeping on those Ohio State DEs. Both were 5-star recruits who have just continued to develop, and they flat-out turned it on in the college football playoffs.

You look at Tuimoloau in the playoffs, he had 20 pressures, 9 TFL, 5.5 sacks, 2 PBUs, and 1 FF in 4 games.

Sawyer had 17 pressures, 5 TFL, 4.5 sacks, 7 PBUs, 1 FF, and that historic 83-yard fumble return to seal it.

That's better than most guy's seasons in the draft.

DE Mykel Williams, Georgia
DE Shemar Stewart, Texas A&M

Guys I think are in play:
DT Kenneth Grant, Michigan
DT Tyleik Williams, Ohio State
DE Princely Umanmielen, Ole Miss
DE J.T. Tuimoloau, Ohio State
DE Nic Scourton, Texas A&M

Don't sleep on these guys:
DT Alfred Collins, Texas
DT T.J. Sanders, South Carolina
DE Landon Jackson, Arkansas
DE Jack Sawyer, Ohio State
DE James Pearce, Tennessee (reportedly huge character flags but top 10 talent)

Personal opinion is that if Harmon makes it to a comfortable trade-up distance for Veach, he's making that move. He is such a disruptive interior player. Him and Jones would be absolutely sick next to each other.

If he can't do that, I'd lean towards an edge and I'm putting my money on Princely.

Well, we took a Kingsley so why not a Princely.

Where do you guys see Darius Alexander going?

PFF has like a mid first round ranking on him. Everyone else seems to have him in the 2nd or 3rd.

He’s older, so I don’t know that Veach would love him too early.

My personal opinion is 3rd round. I'd be surprised if he crept into the 2nd, but you never know. I just think there are too many much better prospects. If I'm looking at 2nd round grades to fringe 3rd, I'd confidently have these guys above him:

Tyleik Williams, Ohio State
T.J. Sanders, South Carolina
Alfred Collins, Texas
Joshua Farmer, Florida State

I see the same creep you do, and I just don't see the same level of skill as any of those guys. That's not even considering there are a solid 4 first-round guys on top of those. I guess you just never know how the NFL will see it though.

My bet is we take on with our 2 or the titans 3.

Maybe move up a bit from our 2 to get up and get a guy that drops a bit more than usual due to positional depth.
