The plan… in coordination with the coaching staff was for him to only play in the first half.

And he didn’t have to play at all.

Greg Cooper, a RB at Miami, had his football career end in that same meaningless bowl game when he tore up his knee.

Even with the injury insurance, Cam as a likely top 5 pick had no reason to risk playing in a meaningless bowl game.

Come on. Surely you don't believe he was only playing the first half regardless of how his record chase went. He was playing to chase the Touchdown record and got it before half so he opted out at halftime.

But who gives a shit? I can promise you, not a single Hurricanes fan held it against him. He did more than enough to earn the benefit of the doubt during the season.

Anybody trying to make a big deal out of that is very out of touch. Whatever you think that means about him or his chaeacter, you're wrong.

Yes just the same as I'll take the QB that shows up in a suit over a t-shirt and shorts for his interview...

I am curious what Chicago gave up for Trubisky. I would think compensation would be similar even though Chicago jumped one less spot.

I don't know specifics, but going to hazard a guess that he's fielded more than a few questions about it during the interview process.

Pathetic. Almost as pathetic as "load management" in the NBA.

A real competitor would have insisted on being on the field with his teammates.

I hope not. Sanders is accurate but I just dont think he is special.

Ive been watching Cam Ward for a few years and he may or may not have success but he has continuously gotten better every year. He doesnt get rattled and seems very cool between the ears no matter the situation. He has a high ceiling potential

Shut the **** up. NO ONE plays in those games unless they have playoff implications. The fact that he actually DID play for a half just to chase a record is what's going to raise eyebrows.

Ward is so far from that guy that doesn't give a shit about his teammates/winning, or whatever else you're trying to imply here. That's Sanders. Not Ward.
He played to get a record and then quit on his team in the middle of the game.

So who else was on the field with him, since NO ONE plays in those games?

So selfish AND lacking competitive drive.

Draft him at 1.1 and enjoy.

If the Eagles don't make the playoffs, do you not think Saquon plays for the record week 18? Does he not immediately go the bench after he does?

It's the ultimate nothingburger, and there's a reason nobody is brining it up in the draft discourse.
