Who’s the unsung hero of Super Bowl 59?

Each Super Bowl win in the Mahomes era had an unsung hero (or two) step up to lead us to the promised land.

Super Bowl 54: Damien Williams

Williams always had an extra gear in the playoffs, but he took it to another level in 54. 17/104, one rushing TD to ice it and a critical receiving TD to take the lead. If Derrick Henry had that performance in the Super Bowl it’d be the primary focus of his Hall of Fame induction, and we got it from Damien Williams.

Super Bowl 57: Kadarius Toney

This dude was on the field for only 8 offensive snaps and was a devastating decoy while scoring a Super Bowl tuddy and nabbing the longest punt return in Super Bowl history.

(Honorable Mention to Khalen Saunders here)

Super Bowl 58: Mecole Hardman

After a devastating goal line fumble against the Bills, Mecole came to Super Bowl 58 and caught one of the best deep balls in Super Bowl history and caught the walkoff touchdown.

(Honorable Mention to Tommy Townsend here)

Requirements: Players can’t be considered among our elite, but can be solid role players for us going in. Who do you got for 59?

The media thought it was a big enough deal to tell everyone Skyy Moore would practice before the Super Bowl, but didn't bother to mention Chris Jones would also be at practice... if that tells you anything.

Good thread.

Lots of good potential here.

I like Leo spying Jalen.

I like Juju ripping apart the 4th CB.

Hunt is obviously a good story.

I like Cook. He was in the neighborhood of 2 picks last week. Maybe he can hang around the ball and get some big plays.

I think Dana jamming up Barkleys running lanes would be pretty big, but unlikely to have a standout effort.

Calliendo jamming up Carter would be huge.

I’m a Perine homer so I’m there for that.

How can you not have Leo Chenal as THE unsung hero of the SB last year?

Forced the McCaffrey fumble turnover, blocked a vital FG that only put us back 3 instead of 4 which was critical at the end of the game.

Was the guy destroying the outside runs on the 49ers tried to run on us which was their bread and butter.

Leo Chenal isn't unsung though? He's was one of the best defenders in both 57 and 58 and I thought that was pretty well a consensus opinion.
