DEFENSE
This is a 90's level Chiefs defense. Absolute game wreckers at all three levels. Man, it is so nice having a great defense again. Warms my cold, dead heart. MEH is garbage. Skyy Moore is a JAG. Mahomes is the GOAT. Kelce is the GOAT. Rice is our best receiver. We beat the piss out of the Chargers. They came to play and walked out of Arrowhead utterly defeated. That was a satisfying game. MOAR!

PFF grades of note(ish):
Kelce and Mahomes both over 90 - God tier basically. Taylor - 79 - mainly for his run-blocking, which, OK I guess. Anyway, nice to see Pacheco - 73.5 T Smith - 73 Rice - 72.4 Hardman - 69...nice Danna - 83.5 - he really likes (or maybe hates) the Chargers, he always turns up for them Jones - 83 Gay - 80 Wharton - 77 Chenal - 74 Omenihu - 72.5 - as advertised, not great against the run but a 78 for pass-rushing. The had McDuffie down as having one of his worst games. Was he on Allen, figures if so, a tough match up. They continue to hate Nnadi as much as I do. |

Mentioned in another thread there was a lot to like in mecoles limited snaps. You can see the specific niche he fills. Mvs has a bit more range of routes as he’s more than just a speed specialist. I don’t see mecole as a guy you ask for precision or to make a contested catch.
But On that failed whip route you had that feeling that a completion there is a huge gainer only he can get. That missed deep ball… you can just see his breakaway speed is top notch. We just need to put him in a few spots a game where he can accelerate. |

I should grab a rewatch of the game. I was gagging on how poorly the defense played, but I can sit here and remember big stops, so maybe I just ****ing HATE when the Chargers move the ball on us and I'm a bit sensitive about it.
Mahomes is the best there's ever been and it's shocking to me that ****holes couldn't wait for Herbert to dethrone him. Herbert has an injury, which I get, and he was injured last year. But he doesn't have the vision Mahomes does. He can't go off script like Mahomes does. If you scheme up a good play, man, he looks amazing and can throw a fantastic ball. But he's not Mahomes. I think ****holes are getting it, maybe...finally. I think what I hope for is the Chargers quit on him and Staley and trade him to the NFC. I think I'd really enjoy watching him without stakes on my team. Kelce is awesome. I don't know what crawled up his ass, maybe it's Taylor re-invigorating him, I dunno. But how the hell is he this ****ing good at 34? Maybe the guys paying better attention than me, is he blocking less? Taylor and Smith are undoubtedly better than Wylie and Brown, and if he's helping less, that might be unlocking him a bit. Everybody is quick to dump on his blocking, but he was doing it, at some level, A LOT. I remember one game where he was lining, up trying to throw a quick block and then get out on a route. That is REALLY hard, especially if it's timing which Mahomes likes to do. If he doesn't have that responsibility as much, I can see him excelling. Sidenote: If that's true - can you imagine THIS Kelce over the last 3 years? FUUUUUUUUUCK |

I think the deal is that if it’s schemed open and everything is clean he’s awesome. Add a little discomfort or a need to speed up and it comes off the rails a bit. Just ****s with his mechanics a little bit. So he’s human, unlike Mahomes. Just like his last 4th down pass was open, it was there, but he sped up and biffed it. |

Happier than I expected to have Mecole back, especially if Ross is facing discipline. |

Also Top 5 in point differential. Chiefs will be #4 in scoring defense, but two of the teams ahead of them have only played six games to KCs seven.

We should enjoy this, as it may be the second to last contest where we go against Brandon Staley if Chargers ownership has any sense whatsoever.
He didn't make the bone head 4th down call in his own end in this game, but he did however once again show that he has no idea how to keep the ball away from the guy that everyone in the world knows is getting it. Kelce with 143 yards at halftime. Lmao. The refs helped to keep about another 90 yards off of what they surrendered by negating huge run by Pacheco and the long td screen to McKinnon. Despite our best efforts to keep the game a close, one score game with surrendering a couple of busted plays and Andy slamming on the brakes offensively by placing Clyde onto the field backed up in our own endzone, we still blew their ****ing doors off. The Chargers are a mess, and with Phillip Rivers 2.0 under center for them, they're never winning anything under Staley. The biggest takeaway from this contest is that our coaching staff desperately needs to understand the skill level of the players we are placing in the game. I would be grossly remiss if I did not point out how insanely stupid it was to have Clyde on the field with a drive starting at our own 3, with Pop and Jet not being in wheelchairs, traction, or paralyzed. Like, imagine someone being asked do you want Pop, Jet, or Meh back there, starting from your 3 and someone chose Meh. Now imagine that someone is Andy Reid. I'd love to hear what his reasoning is. Like how much more do you need to see from this clown that he's a 1-2 yard guy. That's if things go well. He's literally the regular season Frank Clark of running backs. Losing Bolton sucks, but Tranquil has stepped in nicely and has already had nearly a month in the role already when Bolton was out with the ankle. Should just do the repair if surgery is needed and get healthy for post season. O line was great today outside of the two calls that took about 90 yards and a score off the board. Bosa and Mack were essentially invisible out there.

It’s more the short stuff.granted I haven’t seen a ton of herbert. But it seems like he throws a ton of short fastballs when he doesn’t need to. Even on screens where you can throw over the defender instead of zipping a sidearm fastball. He can make all the throws but it seems like he’s always trying to throw the ball hard no matter what. |

Rumblings are that he's lost the locker room. Not a great sign.
