Tips For Dealing With Poison Ivy

Anyone have any good advice?

Been battling this shit for over a week, every time it starts looking/feeling like its going away it comes roaring right back... the more calamine lotion I put on it, the worse it seemingly gets

Even have this shit on my junk

I'm considering scratching all of it wide open raw, then dousing it all with rubbing alcohol... but thats gonna burn like hell

Here's the link! You could do an appt tonight probably and have the medicine in the AM.

They have a subscription service called good rx gold and they do appointments that you pay $19 or $49 for depending on if you have good rx gold, but other than that I'm not entirely sure. I think they get money from pharmacies maybe for sending them customers. I'm not sure though. Let me look.

https://www.hyperlatam.com/how-does-...cal%20partners.

"By providing users with coupons that offer discounts on medications, GoodRx encourages consumers to fill their prescriptions at partner pharmacies. The company receives a share of the profit each time a coupon is used, primarily from pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) and other pharmaceutical partners."

It takes money from the pharmacy in ridiculously high fees.

I bet that $190 cash price was at a chain?

Most independents will sell you whatever it is for cheaper than goodrx.

That's not even remotely true. I can get one of my scripts at the large chains with GoodRX for ~$30. At my local pharmacy it is $60-$80. It's like that at all the smaller pharmacies I've tried getting my scripts at. GoodRX is a real money saver and will get you the script for less than the pharmacy pays for it. My good friend is the pharmacist at my local pharmacy and there is no way they would sell meds at lower prices than their cost.

Wear some thin cotton gloves on your hands when you sleep - or socks - or whatever. it will keep you from inadvertently scratching and spreading it other places - like your wiener.

Scratching it does not make it spread. It can cause more irritation and can lead to infection but it doesn't make the poison ivy/oak/sumac spread.

I feel for ya Easy. While I am not highly allergic to it I still get splotches where some crew members get covered in a rash. As a land surveyor, I have cut road centerlines through poison ivy bush and vine chest to neck high and not got it. Its the poison ivy you don't see that gets you was our saying.

Was anyone burning near you? Wood or brush that you were downwind of? Pet any animals?

Before cover applications and ivy wash we kept lava and lye soap in the truck. When we came out of the bush it was straight to the water Keg and a washdown of all exposed skin. All the clothes went into the hottest soapy washing machine including shoe laces. I even turned the hot water heater on high and waited till it cycled off before filling the washer. Some guys when got home those clothes went into a plastic bag and then to a laundromat so no oil would remain in there washer.

I never got any steroid shots I just washed with hot water often and dried then applied Cordaid over the counter. Other crewmembers haven't faired as well as I.

There is nothing in the rash that makes it spread unless you still have remnants of the oil. That oil I have read can affect you years later if it is present in something.

My doc told me to get the oil off you and anything you came into contact with and add two weeks to clear up.

If you scratch it then touch elsewhere - does it not (potentially) transfer? I always thought it did.
