A Level Headed Review Week 3 2024

McDuffie just got his feet tangled and it effected him more than Mooney.

The Drake London TD was a blown coverage by Johnson....just a young player mistake on a WR switch route. Didn't take the pass off from Tranquill.

Worthy with a nice pitch and catch for 10 yards and follow up with a nice catch and run for 6 yards. Worthy really does seem to play defense well when the pass has a chance to be intercepted. Gah just stopped running on that route...gotta keep running through that route.

Steele really showing his mettle with some nice hard runs and good chunk yards.

Perine also with some solid runs, he is no Pacheco but between him and Steele....I can only imagine what Hunt will bring as well.

Rice has some sick moves in the open field with some of his stop and go stuff.
Gotta make that catch in the 2nd quarter just before half - in his defense Mahomes threw it a bit behind him but it was catchable.

Wanya seems to be faring well so far and as the game has gone on.

Mahomes just got fooled by a good DB on the INT.

Jones stupid mistake on the RTP that led to a score to put the Falcons up by 7. Gotta play more disciplined.

The crushing hit and fumble by FAU on Cousins was a beautiful thing to watch. Too bad the penalty for kicking the ball out of bounds isn't more stiff. I would make it a 15 yarder and a loss of down.

That pick by Connor was a perfect result of Jones destroying the OL and pushing them back into Cousins face. The second half is going to be rough for them.

The goal line series of plays, I get that we have been stuffing it down their throat but it seems like we go back to the well too much. The 2nd down play was an obvious run...should have had another play action play called. Still got. a FG but we need more TD's. FG's are going to come back and bite us.

Defense starting to look better...make Cousins find someone open and let a 3 man rush flush him.

Juju finally on the board with a catch and Tuddy. Love this for him.

Then Butler does the next to impossible and actually hits the upright square on, on the XP.

Spags with the unique and timely blitzes forcing a long FG attempt by the Falcons.

Props to Ariza for being able to snag that wild snap and still get an amazing kick off to pin ATL.

Great goal line stand, Cook with two pass breakups - the first one could have been called DPI as he never got around to make a play on the ball but the refs just let them play it out.

Where was the illegal hands to the face on Connor and was it just me or was that a very questionable DPI. The WR just ran into McDuffie standing still, I guess that's a make up call for the Cook non-call.

Killing ourselves with penalties tonight. Gotta get the silly calls (that actually happen) cleaned up.

The DEFENSE saves the day again for us. Would love to see the offense get a little more in sync but I love seeing the Defense come up big to save the win.

Not sure why anyone is worried about Worthy....he is a rookie adjusting to being in the NFL....it looks like they are bringing him along much like they did Rice.

Imagine what the offense will look like at the end of the year??

Said my peace on needing WRs to go vertical

Wanya wasn’t bad but it felt like he was getting lots of help. Why wasn’t Kingsley?
Steele was great. A little consistent with vision which makes me nervous in short yardage. Which continues to be an issue.
We can get by with these long plodding drives. But it feels like we’re too prone to mistakes for it. But at least we have the defense and power running game to make this hurt in the 4th quarter
Butker as always is sensational and I still don’t care about 1 point misses if he is nails on all his 3 pointers. Araiza is still inconsistent. Flubbed the first punt but an outstanding save and punt towards the end. He wasn’t asked to pin short kicks but in previous weeks he’s needed to work on his touch
Rice is elite in catch and run. He’s become pretty much unguardable and it feels like the only reason we don’t target him is to avoid overusing him
Mahomes is uncharacteristically off this year. I think he’s still frustrated that we can’t open the offense up. But his first half was inexplicably messy
What does skyy moore do again?
I really want to see Wiley by end of season. We really need volume eaters besides rice and to a lesser extent kelce
Defense was good today. With the falcons you clamp down the run and pitts and force cousins to beat you. And they largely did.
As a person who hates the bengals griping about last weeks calls, falcons fans have legit beef. The refs screwed them on PI and I almost wish they called it to cut the annoying narrative that refs are in the chiefs pocket. They tried to make up call it on the falcons final possession but that doesn’t replace an almost guaranteed score on the prior drive

You know what all the complainers are seeming to forget?

Atlanta had a couple of questionable penalties that favored them...

They made some questionable decisions on a couple of 4th down plays besides the play with the non-call of DPI

They couldn't seem to keep our defense from harassing Cousins all night.

On the RTP play that Jones was hot with, the left tackle pretty much had his hands in Jones face....

Part of the fun I am having is the whining on social media about the refs helping KC....it only reinforces the pure envy and jealousy out there right now. And what makes it even more sweet is when I see the complainers are Bills fans....Bengals fans....Packer fans....Raider fans...Jet fans...and Broncos fans.

Something that was small and unnoticed but was interesting to see...

When Chris Jones got called for the bogus RTP call and was really irate....the guy who pretty much separated Jones from the ref was Karlaftis....

Roughing the passer was a horrible call.

The refs were scary last night. No idea what they would call or what they would miss.

That play by Cook in the end zone was so blatant. We dodged a bullet by a very inconsistent set of refs.

We also had a very questionable RTP on Jones, (not a penalty IMHO) and definitely not a penalty on McDuffie for the WR running a straight line into him as Trent had established his space.

They were not very good.

Here is what I always go back to and what we always heard during the Patriot years...

You don't like the game being decided by a penalty call....you don't put yourself in the position.

On that last play all ATL needed was inches....and they weren't good enough AT HOME to pick it up. So they and other fanbases can pretty much kiss off.

I choose not to enable whiners in the media to take away that this defense bowed up and stopped a pretty good offense in the second half of that game.

Nah in this case it’s warranted. I wouldn’t have mind seeing the call made because we would have marched down the field and overcame it. Here’s the thing. In most games the call doesn’t matter. I’m of course ok with getting the benefit of the whistle. But this was a really bad miss. I don’t like that this makes bengals fans feel validated even though they’re completely wrong TWICE. The fan base with the flimsiest case about the chiefs whistle happens to be the loudest.

New game plan

spot the other team 3. Mahomes gives up an INT. They go up 10.

Mahomes gets mad and the D crushes the other team.

Chiefs come back and win by 10.

Nagy is a ****ing blight on this team. He runs the same offense with Mahomes that he ran in Chicago with Trubisky and Fields. We don't even have hope that he'll be poached because he just sucks that ****ing badly.

I was really expecting a big game by Kelce.

Mahomes seemed to not even be looking at him for long stretches.

Once again, horrible officiating at the end of the game. The Falcon fans have every right to be bitching about not getting the ball at the one, but the refs made at least two make up calls on the Falcons next drive that had 3 first downs from penalties IIRC.
The holding call against McDuffie was pathetic.

Mahomes has been off. He was off on throws in the first half and he started down the wr on the pic. The offense also had a couple bad drops. Plus worthy slowed down to kill the drive. We will get it fixed. It was a nice road win. Rice has the connection with Mahomes which is great to see. I think teams are focusing on kelce which is leaving rice open. I hope worthy progresses. steele and perine were fine but Pacheco is better. I hope we get everyone healthy for the playoff run.

If herbert is hurt, we will be sitting at 4-0. What a great start.
