41. Tariq Woolen CB, UTSA
43. DeMarvin Leal IDL, Texas A&M
46. Logan Hall EDGE, Houston
49. George Pickens WR, Georgia
62. Nick Cross S, Maryland
72. Troy Andersen LB, Montana State
82. Trey McBride TE, Colorado State
94. Leo Chenal LB, Wisconsin
158. ZaQuandre White RB, South Carolina
170. Dare Rosenthal OT, Kentucky
183. Romeo Doubs WR, Nevada
231. Amaré Barno EDGE, Virginia Tech

Could also be talked into Travis Jones instead of Leal at 43.
Dude.

If your plan is to trade down and take Tariq Woolen and DeMarvin Leal so you can take Logan Hall, Troy Anderson, and Trey McBride, I'm not on board with it.

Hall and Leal are very similar players. So you aren't just double-dipping at DL/DE, you're also double-dipping on strongside DE/tweener guy.

That's an INCREDIBLY aggressive drafting of Woolen. Incredibly risky to trade down (almost surely passing on several guys who work really well in KC like Pitre, Hill, Brisker, and Cine) and make that your first pick in this draft.

Pickens and Cross are nice picks. I love Troy Anderson, but I'm not a fan of the other 2 picks you made in the 3rd. Chenal is a 2-down, SAM LB-only. And he's completely unnecessary if you have traded down to acquire capital for nabbing Andersen. McBride is a luxury pick and not the one I'd make if targeting a TE.

This draft still leaves KC without a strong reinforcement or hope for the future of improvement at the RE spot. Just not enough diversification of the types of DL you added here.

Fair enough. How would you critique it with Travis Jones in place of Leal? Or Winfrey? Obviously I'm assuming that Davis and Wyatt don't fall to the end of the 1st.

Pickens surely won't make it to the 3rd round, and it sounds like he might make it to the 2nd by the way the hype train is gearing up on him.

Yep. Wouldn't shock me a bit if GB took him at 28.

My only issues would be that Leal and Hall are kind of the same guy and positionally doubling up THAT guy doesn't make sense. Swap in a Sam Williams or a Cam Thomas and I'll take it. And Veach has shown they don't value corners that highly.

I'd love to see him in a KC uniform, if only to scream "SLIM PICKENS!" in my best Taggart voice.

Yeah Leal is kind of a tweener. I envisioned housing him near one of KC's best BBQ joints to get him north of 300 in time for the regular season. As deep as this draft appears to be at DE/Edge, it doesn't appear to be very deep at DT. And there's no way Wyatt or Davis will be around unless we trade up, imo. While Veach hasn't valued CBs that highly in the past, there haven't been too many 6'4" CBs who run a 4.3.

Travis Jones is the only DT that works there, for me, if you’re taking Logan Hal as your DE.

But I would take Hall. I’d be looking for someone who is more explosive/has more of a speed rush.

I’m a bigger fan of pairing a bigger, strong side DE (Karlaftis, Cam Thomas, Enagbare) with a twitchier, more classic RE (Sam Williams or Ebeketie or Mafe).

But for me, if I’m spending two picks on DL and one is on a power guy, my other is on an athletic, explosive guy.

Did the others run a 4.26?

Woolen is raw as hell and he has some terrible tape along with some ridiculously freaky athletic tape. He's only been playing corner for two years. But man...if you could coach a guy like that up you might not have to worry about CB for the next 10 years with him shutting down tall WRs, fast WRs, and tall and fast WRs. And he seems to really bring the lumber tackling. No shortage of tape showing him sticking his head in and planting guys. Got a little nasty streak in him it looks like. Maybe I'm completely wrong, but I think people are going to be surprised at how high he goes. I think he goes in the top 50.

Are there some safer CBs that would be available at 29? Almost certainly. Is there a CB in the draft whose ceiling is as high as his is, especially if we could trade down and get him 15 spots lower? Not so sure.

Zyon McCollum is another freak corner that should be available in the late third. I think he will be our comp pick…6’4” 200 and ran a 4.33 and has good cover skills.

The Chiefs can grab quality corners in the later rounds as mentioned above, cb is deep this year... A few names come to mind C. Taylor-Britt, C. Bryant, and Z. McCollum... No need to draft one in the first round unless an one of the top 5 falls to us and he's on your board.

There is zero chance he's available at 50 based on what I've heard. So it's take him at 30 or you get into that territory of risking missing him.

People's view of where some prospects will go is f'd. You read enough hivemind mock drafts and you become glued to a guy being available here or there.

I've never watched a snap of that guy play football, but if he has any sort of competency on tape, he isn't sliding. Every damn team in the league will be on him and someone will pull the trigger.

Like that mock above with Pickens at 49. Chenal at 94. WTF? Ironically, at least it has Woolen going earlier.
