****Official 2010 ChiefsPlanet Mock Draft Thread****

Welcome to the 2010 ChiefsPlanet Mock Draft.

We have some new owners this year, so here's a quick run-down on the rules.

Each team will have 24 hours from the timestamp of the previous pick to make their selection. If your pick is not made within 24 hours, the next owner is free to make their selection.

The draft order is now final, with the exception of possible compensatory picks. As in past years, if the NFL announces an official list of compensatory picks BEFORE we finish the 3rd round, I'll add them in. If not, the draft order currently listed will remain. Any trades made in real life will NOT change the mock order from this moment on - personally, it's just too much work, and you run the risk of a pick being traded in real life after it's been made here in the mock.

If you think there is any chance you'll miss your pick, please try to send me a PM with a prioritized list of players - I'll select the highest priority player available from your list to keep things moving.

Please try to check in at least once a day, if not several times daily. We've never had an issue finishing 7 rounds in 6 weeks and I don't expect to have a problem this year - but it's up to you guys as owners to stay current.

When making your selection, please post the name, position and school of the player (follow Hamas' lead, he knows the drill - the correct format helps greatly when updating the header) and give a quick blurb about why you selected that particular player. Doesn't have to be a novel.

I'll be in class from 11:00 - 2:00, but I'll log back in to put Hamas on the clock at Noon.

Have fun fellas.

Berry and Cody would have been a Hell of a start to helping fortify our defense.

There's not a single LB that can't be upgraded on this roster. Including Hali.

Passing on a pass rushing specialist who's likely to go 10 spots earlier because we have Mike ****ing Vrabel?

You have to be kidding.

Well in fairness he likes Sapp who is very questionable in whether he can play standing over Hughes who everyone thinks will easily transition to that spot.

Yes, the best 3-4 DL in football.

If Dorsey and Jackson PLAY UP TO THEIR DRAFT STATUS (and don't get me wrong, caps lock means I'm yelling at you), we have the best DL in football.

I'm not drafting for need. I'd take the best NT in the Draft in the 1st round. I think that's exactly what the Chargers are doing -- which is why they cut their Pro Bowl nose in a nose-bankrupt atmosphere.

The value is that I'm taking a 350-380 NT that dominated in the SEC over a TCU transition project. Every single time.

I know you won the draft and all, but that's a bit silly. The way you're talking you would put him in the top 10 taken overall.

I agree we need both, but I just believe Cody brings more to our defense. Our running stopping has been attrocious, as well, and Hughes is still somewhat of a liabilty in that area.

Also, Cody holds contain and frees up those around him, helping CREATE a pass-rush, by occupying blockers.

In other words, the players we have, should become better, by being freed up. I don't think it's any coincedence that our Defense has been awful for over a decade and we haven't had that dominate DT, during that span. Time to change that by drafting Cody. Cement the lines and then bring on the specialists.

I think Hughes is a 1st rounder so I don't think you can really question this pick, Hughes is a better player than Cody is.

My point still stands. All things being equal...NT is more valuable than OLBer who's a liability agianst the run.

I agree to an extent, but their defense has been good because it prefers defenders that are strong run defenders over pass rush overall.

I dont like it, but it is what it is.

We will likely value strength against the run and ability in coverage over pass rush ability.

You're valuing the position over the player, a surefire way to blow a pick.

I wouldn't, because I think Denver needs a NTotF and if I thought he was Top 10 material, I would have taken him with Denver's pick.

Cody is a 1st round prospect though with the rare attributes you simply don't get very often. But he's not a foolproof pick. I think the Top 10 should be reserved for foolproof picks with amazing upside.

Cody is a 1st rounder. If he falls to the second, he has to be ours. We have no choice.

I don't think the Chiefs will have any chance at Hughes anyhow, I think if the draft broke similar to this one, the Jets would take him.

Without a doubt.

Just because Scott Pioli thinks it's wise to use high picks on guys who's jobs is to take on blockers, doesn't mean I agree.

I can tell you now, you're going to hate my picks - because I'm not looking to fill needs - I'm looking to get the best player available.

This team has a shit-ton of needs, and they all can't be filled through the draft.
