The Bills take the AFC this season

Are you ready for some football!?

I know I am!

With that, I am here to make a proclamation!

The mighty Bills from Buffalo will take the AFC this year.

For two decades I watched people say the Patriots window was closed, that their time was dwindling, that it was all over… seemingly every time those predictions happened, the Patriots went and won another Super Bowl.

A lot of doom talk simply because we lost to the Bengals in the playoffs. Let us not forget that the Bills watched their brother DIE on the field just a few weeks prior. Their heart was simply not in it. If it had been, the Bills would have captured the AFC last year.

The Bills have won 2 of their last 3 in Arrowhead and they’re ready to make it 3 of the last 4.

Let’s go mighty Buffalo Bills! 🦬 🦬 🦬

No shit. The Chiefs beat the Chargers twice. They're not scary at all.

Yeah, the AFC looks set to go completely chalk to me. The only home team that might lose would be Houston because those guys are just in a tailspin right now.

I guess they'd be playing Pittsburgh? Neither of those teams seems inclined to win a post-season game but if they face each other, one of 'em is gonna have to before getting steamrolled by KC.

Neither team has even an A game that can beat KC's B game.

I would not put money on the Chargers and Broncos but they're both teams with veteran coaches and top 5 defenses. They can at least get you in a rock fight. But if the game gets away from them they might get blown out.

I get that Burrow is putting up monster numbers but I'm not entirely convinced the Bengals are THAT much more dangerous than the Broncos/Chargers like all the talking heads are saying. With the Bengals you have to win a shootout so you aren't going to blow them out, I get that. Teams with bottom 5 defenses usually trip up somewhere though because the offense has to be perfect.

You'll just have a hard time convincing me that a team that lost 4 of 5 games -- TWICE -- is 'the most dangerous team in the playoffs'

They had two completely independent stretches where they went 1-4. And the only thing that prevented those from being 5 game losing streaks was beating the Panthers and Raiders respectively.

No, they're not a good football team. They're not even the sort of dynamic offense that keeps you from being dependent on game-script because they haven't demonstrated the ability to come back in games.

They're no different than the Baltimore teams of a couple years back that had one way to win -- keep you from scoring, get the lead, let Lamar and the run game salt the game away.

The Bengals have one way to win -- take the lead, keep scoring, hold onto the lead like grim death as their defense craters around them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Broncos win STILL their only win against a .500 team this year?

I've never seen a team get so much credit on the strength of one half of good football 4 years ago. It's just the strangest thing.

Panthers, 4-12
Giants, 3-13
Browns twice, 3-13
Raiders, 4-12
Titans, 3-13
Cowboys, 7-9 (against Cooper Rush)
Broncos, 9-7 (in OT)

That's why I don't like the Burrow MVP talk... yeah, he almost beat some good teams, so we're saying he elevated his team to almost winning a few games and uh, not losing to 3-win teams?

I think they'd be a significantly tougher out than the imploding Texans or complete fraud Steelers, but that's not saying a ton given what they haven't accomplished all season.

Not even close....bud! /John Bender, probably.

KC - lost the lead on a Morris TD half way through the 3rd. Regained the lead on a Yoshi TD late 3rd. Lost the lead on a fumblesix, start of the 4th. Regained the lead on a McP FG just about half way through the 4th.

WSH - Scored 3 TDs to draw close each time in the 2nd half. Defense could not make a single stop the entire game.

BLT(2) - Chase TD to tie the game w/5mins left in the 4th. Los the lead on a TD w/under 2 mins left in the 4th. Chase TD w/38 seconds in the 4th. failed 2 pt try to lose.

LAC - 3 TDs in the 2nd half to tie the game with 12 minutes left in the 4th.

DAL - FG to tie w/10 min left in the 4th. TD to take lead with 1 minute left in the 4th.

DEN - GWD in OT.
Obv, only 2 of those are wins but they don't just have one way to win. The defense has actually improved a little in important points of the game recently.

As far as your last point. It's not strange at all since it was more than 1 good half of football. It was finding a way to win 3 straight times, once to go to the SB and making Patty look human while doing it.

You've managed to beat Burrow twice in a row since then, by a combined 4 pts, so we'll see how it turns out the next time we meet...

Gonna be a while considering the Bengals aren't making the playoffs.
