The Bills take the AFC this season

Are you ready for some football!?

I know I am!

With that, I am here to make a proclamation!

The mighty Bills from Buffalo will take the AFC this year.

For two decades I watched people say the Patriots window was closed, that their time was dwindling, that it was all over… seemingly every time those predictions happened, the Patriots went and won another Super Bowl.

A lot of doom talk simply because we lost to the Bengals in the playoffs. Let us not forget that the Bills watched their brother DIE on the field just a few weeks prior. Their heart was simply not in it. If it had been, the Bills would have captured the AFC last year.

The Bills have won 2 of their last 3 in Arrowhead and they’re ready to make it 3 of the last 4.

Let’s go mighty Buffalo Bills! 🦬 🦬 🦬

These are all 5 of their losses. When Henry is not running the ball well their offense craters. They average 30 PPG but in their 5 losses with the run shut down that dropped to 20 PPG.

We have the 3rd best run D and Trent McDuffie to matchup with Zay Flowers.

Not remotely worried about that team
You also can’t ignore the fact that the Ravens still have to win the next week then 2 postseason games to get to KC in the AFCCG.

Compare that to the Chiefs resting this week and next, only needing to win 1 home game against the worst remaining AFC team to get there.

Henry doesn’t wear down easily, but he’s still human. He looked like his shoes were extra heavy in that 2020 AFCCG. The workload will eventually take its toll.

That’s like saying KC isn’t that good because they were in a shootout with Carolina and almost lost to the Raiders.

LAC might be trending downward, but they’re still basically tied for #1 in points allowed.

I certainly wouldn't have tried to argue that the Chiefs defense was "elite" after those games. They've turned it around since and are playing more like it, but that was the Chargers most recent performance, and it was far from "elite" defensively.

For as long as CP has existed, CP has been afraid of run-first teams.... and those good running teams consistently fail in the postseason.

And it's why Andy has been making it a point to have the passing game dialed in lately...

run-first was great to get us through our WR problems early-to-mid year, but now you gotta be able to win games throwing the ball.

It'll be interesting to see if the Ravens try to win with pocket passer Lamar like the AFCCG last season or if they try to stick with what really works for them... the latter will probably at least keep them in games long enough until Lamar has to prove he can win a game through the air when it really matters.

Way more EPA by passing than running.

This seems like a good place to post a link from a ridiculous Bleacher report article on the Superbowl window for each contender. As I started with the Bills, they said that as long as Josh Allen was playing elite that they were a contender. They predicted 8 more years. They basically said the same about Jackson but gave him 6 years due to his scrambling. So, I'm reading through and thinking that for the Chiefs it has to be at least 10 years. Nope. They gave us 4 more years. SMH. Sounds like more wishful thinking than actually likelihood of being accurate. Anyway. If you want to read it, here's the link. It's too long and full of ads to bother copying and pasting.

It's fair to wonder about the Chiefs when Reid & Spags are gone. We'll see how it goes. It will be up to Clark Hunt & Brett Veach to find a good replacement for Andy when the time comes. The rest of the league is pretty fortunate that Coach Reid was not 15 years younger when he acquired Mahomes.
