And I am sure they would give you a good trade on it.

it's not under warranty? Do you get a puff of white or grey smoke when you start it up after not driving for a couple days? Might have a bad ring. No leaks? Bad issue for a young car. Most cars nowadays are change oil every 5,000 or 10,000 miles. At least my import 4 cylinder cars are.

Did the oil look unusually black or smell burnt? You could send a sample in for analysis.

This is a super common problem in 18-20 F150 with the 5.0

Question

Question--

Ram 1500. 2015. V8 Hemi. 93000 miles.

Gas milage is dropping a little. I know it is older. But down from 18.5 to 15.5 under the same driving conditions to and from school.

Anything I can do to help this?
Run some sea foam
New Spark Plugs
Clean out the throttle body.

I will have to pay someone for almost any work. I am not qualified to do it.

Check your air filter, make sure the oils not terribly over filled (hemis tend to use some so often are over filled) and check tire pressure.

Could be the fuel pressure sensor screwing up your ECM. Locate where it's at on your vehicle, disconnect it,, and clean it up with a parts cleaner spray. Have you noticed it is harder to start than it used to be? A sudden change in gas mileage is another hint. May trigger the check engine light.

They get carboned and gummed up or go bad, and it affects what the computer making it run rich or lean.

Just a thought.

Check your air filter and tires. If your air filter has any dust in it at all clean it. If your tires are worn you can affect fuel mileage.

Might replace your fuel filter. But I’m guessing you would be getting a trouble code if it was that.

Insurance adjuster I had out had Rams and he told me they dump fuel pumps every 50K miles. I called bullshit and he said every one in the company dumps it every 50K miles. Might be bullshit IDK. But if it is going to fail anyway, maybe get it done and out of the way.

I had an 09 that I had since near new. Put one fuel pump in it around 150k miles. sold it with 285k on it. That is an end of the 09 "new" to that time body. Was a good truck. Had a cam and lifters replaced under warranty around 120k. Other than that pretty much issue free mechanically.

scheduled my 2017 Vw Golf wagon for a 60,000 mile service this week, the estimated price is $1,600 for the service which is basically the core oil change and changing out brake, transmission and radiator fluid. WTF?!? not even replacing any hard parts?

Sounds like way too much, or am I just an old man. Sure these are California prices but sheesh.

I already did the brake pads/rotors myself and saves about $600 in labor. Might have to do these other services myself from now on.

Well oil and brake fluid DIY are pretty damn easy.....and sometimes transmission can be too. Before you take it in, maybe look at some youtube videos and decide if this is something you can do yourself.

Also, is this at a dealer or indy shop? Shop around for some prices.

My trans went out a couple of days ago. That's going to be a nice $3,500 bite in the ass, plus I have to rent something for a week.
