Who Would Win in a Fight Between Bruce Lee and Mike Tyson?

Alright Planeteers, I've been arguing on message boards with people about this off and on for a couple years now and I want to get CP's input on it. The question is this: Who would win in a fight between Bruce Lee and Mike Tyson in his prime? Let's hear it!

Tyson had no point of reference to deal with all of the myriad techniques Lee would throw at him in a no holds barred, do or die fight... too many people are too wrapped up in his SIZE, his awesome MUSCLES and QUICKS to stop and think about what true martial arts are, IMO.
Didnt mean to slam you personally Rico, but the overconfidence in some circles is crazy, IMO... Lee was faaar stronger and potentially meaner than the average 150 pounder
I simply referenced Tyson because of his notoriety...not because of his skill. Tyson, IMO was a Sonny Liston type... We are due for another Liston/Tyson. Can't wait.

If I named the title of this thread, "Who Would Win in a Fight Between Bruce Lee and Ike Ibeabuchi?" it wouldn't appeal to anyone...because no one knows who the hell Ike Ibeabuchi is....despite the fact that (in my opinion) he is the best Hwt that boxing has seen...possibly ever, but the dude had to ram his car into a brick wall, rape chicks and be all crazy and shit.

If anyone DOES know who Ibeabuchi is, you probably know him via his fight with David Tua...he and Tua set the record for most punches thrown in a Heavyweight fight.

Tyson is a boxer/fighter that is a household name...that's why I used him as my reference as to someone who can beat Bruce Lee's ass.

WTF does that mean? Do you live in a damn sandbox or something? I thought you lived in Iowa. I didn't know they had beaches in Iowa.

I meant "sedentary."

Oops, a "Rickyism," there may be a Trailer Park Boys fan or two out there that get that reference.

Oh, I know what you meant. However, this is a serious problem. You'll never be truly free to live the kind of life you want until you give up your sedimentary lifestyle. Sand will seep into every facet of your life until you change things. Think of what it does to your pipes. Think of what it does to your floors...your hinges...your lungs...your vag.

Rico, it's time to stop with the sediment.

The idea of Lee being the greatest martial artist of his generation is wrong. He was the most POPULAR martial artists of his generation and he proliferated eastern arts all across the country. It was a good thing. What he was NOT was a professional fighter.

Plus, I want to continue to bang the drum of BOXING IS A SUPERIOR MARTIAL ART TO WING CHUN, WHICH IS WHY LEE STOLE SO MANY ASPECTS AND INSERTED THEM INTO HIS OWN MARTIAL ART!

I had to use caps, because people seriously seem to think Lee learned the secret Kung fu that only the super masters, whom can defeat any living man, know. This art, FWIW, doesn't even exist. Kung Fu means 'art'. It's not a fighting style. Dragon was a movie, not a documentary. People here probably think he really hurt his back in a street fight and not doing stunts for a movie.

I'm not saying I could beat him up... I"m saying the frame of reference people are using to base his superiority on appears to be film and not reality.

Leg kicks are obscenely effective and commonly used by nearly every MMA fighter there is.

Lee, FWIW, practiced Wing Chun which discourages any kicks above the waist. The only kicks he legitimately practiced were leg kicks and I'll bet he could kick pretty hard.

This. They do a lot more than "disarm or distract the opponent" as King suggested. Have you ever been hit with a solid leg kick? They don't exactly feel good. Also, a series of effective leg kicks can greatly hamper mobility.

Damn right... and it CAN disarm and distract. Guys drop their guard when they want to protect their legs.

Bruce Lee would kill Mike Tyson.

Bruce was a warrior; Tyson was a street thug rapist-in-training.

What the **** are you babbling about??

Bruce invented his OWN martial art - Jeet Kune Do = "The Way of the Fist", which emphasized economy of motion and putting your opponent on the ground, fast and hard.

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, and it shows.

Please shut the **** up. Now.
