Can you show one of the interior? I'm always more impressed with a perfectly done interior for some reason. I feel like it's actually harder to repair and maintain in a somewhat original state. Also, that's a cool looking garage. Where is that? Is it yours?

Didn't know where else to put this, it doesn't necessarily warrant it's own topic, but since I know there are CPer's that have watched Street Outlaws and/or No Prep Kings, follow Drag Week Tour, I thought you should know that Lizzy Musi lost her battle with cancer yesterday.

Wheels are on; stance is much improved. They sit right in those fenders really well in front. If the springs settle a little, the shocks are only at about half their possible ride height so there's plenty of room to adjust. Pretty stoked. Last thing to work on should be the AC system; think it just needs a new compressor and it'll be ready to rock as well. Awfully close to having a really driveable toy car here...

I've had a Holly Sniper EFI added to it and now the new coilovers, etc... New steering box. Had the rear breaks re-built. I may end up putting new leafs in it over the next couple years and pop some rear discs in there. And at some point I'll re-do the entire sound system as that's something I could do myself as a fun project (did a bit of that stuff as a kid in high school). Thankya.

With the hood dropped; gives a better look at the lines. Yeah, pretty damn happy with that. Front shoulders are now clearly below the rear 'hips' -- pretty much all I can do without raising the back and I just don't think that's gonna be necessary. That would be a new set of leaf springs and I already have a pretty good set back there that I really don't think needs to be replaced.

So I got to drive my wife's uncles C8 Vette last weekend.
Jesus ****, those cars are almost idiot-proof. They're exactly as dangerous as you allow them to be. All you need to do is give the thing a half a heartbeat to calibrate and it will do the work for you. I'd been testing limits with it a little on a relatively tame mode for a bit, decided to really throw it into the corner (he said I could) and so all I did was briefly brake tap to give the car a second to calibrate and ensure I didn't have oversteer, threw it into about a 60 degree corner at near 70mph and then as I got the nose pointed I just matted the ****er. In any reasonably sane world, putting the pedal to the floor on a 500 HPish rollerskate at that speed and attack angle should've turned it into a merry go round - nope. That sucker stuck to the ground like it was nothing, went right where I aimed it and came roaring out of the apex at full gallop. Now I know it's not because I was perfect in my throttle control - I didn't even try. It was because that computer did everything possible to keep it under control. I mean literally the only thing you have to worry about on one of those things, unless/until you start turning driver aids down or off (and turning them down a bit is fun) is understeer. It really can't account for understeer because it doesn't know the road you're on. But even the amount of OVERsteer it's willing to allow is customizeable. I'd gotten use to tossing the back out a little and having it catch, then I turned a knob and did something pretty similar and suddenly the back end went past that 10 degrees I expected and I thought "oh...well now I'm ****ed..." but really all it did was let it get to about 20 degrees and then catch it. I was floored. I mean it's a no-shit supercar. I've driven his C6 before and it's a 'smarter' car than many, but it's still going to let you kill yourself if you try hard enough. It's NOTHING like this C8. That car is very possibly the best engineered vehicle America has ever produced. (That said, I almost preferred driving the unruly C6 and think I might find a perfect balance someday with a C7).

Yea welcome to the holy shit world DJ. My buddies C7Z06 is probably the baddest all around car I have ever driven. Wish I had bought it from him it was a steal. I simply didn’t have the garage space at the time.

Hey what's your guys' take on GUMOUT or other carb cleaners?
I'm getting ready to make a 1000 mile road trip in my old VW camper. I've bene driving it weekly for months but over the years it's gone a couple months at times with no action. I have dual 34mm weber carbs that are about 20 years old on the 1800cc 4 cylinder engine. NO ISSUES with the carbs at all, but while I'm tuning her up for the trip I thought I might blast some carb cleaner in there to get rid of anything that might have accumulated. Thoughts? |
