Let's talk about the Miami Dolphins

Here is my $500,000 question on this game.

Will Spags and Co play it straight and keep their powder dry for the playoffs?

Last season the Chiefs defense (and maybe Andy, don't recall) kept things very vanilla when they went to Cincy.

They lost that battle, but won the war, because the defensive wrinkles Spags wanted to use against the Bengals were unveiled in the AFC Championship and held their offense at bay just enough for gimpy Mahomes to drag us over the finish line late.

Will Spags come into this game guns blazing and try to take out the Dolphins early this season? OR will he keep his cards hidden for the real season?

It’s not like Denver played well, if you can beat Miami you absolutely should be able to beat both.

You better go tell your little birdie to stop being a flaming dumbass. NO NFL team completely ignores a team they're playing that week and instead focuses on a future opponent.

I wonder how often that happens... not that it's normal to play a team twice in 3 weeks, but say the Colts loss last year, I'm sure they really wanted to stick it to the Bucs and maybe put a bit more time into it.

Even if that is what happened, it's not like that's what caused the unforced turnovers... unless they were all hungover or something. Yeah, so they half assed there way through a game... they do that a lot and it rarely bites them in the ass. They were also in the game into the 4th, that's just how poorly they can play and how awful the Broncos are, but of course they ****ed around and found out.

Not saying it’s ultimately the right way to do it, especially when I waste 3 hours on that bullshit (much less tickets and so forth), but I can see why it's hard to focus on a 2nd Broncos week in 3 weeks when there are big fish to fry.

I don't remember if it was this year or last. Team X played team Y, the went on a bye and played team Y again right after the bye.

You can do "less" that week and spend some time on another opponent but you don't 'not watch any film' or completely disregard them and focus on the opponent. You still have to practice the plays you're going to run against the team right in front of you.

Yeah, "completely ignore" is extreme.

I don't know shit about their routines, but wonder if say Mahomes watches film 20 hours/week, well maybe that gets cut down a bit if he feels comfy with what the Broncos run. You obviously have the first game to review and then an additional game.

And given the WR struggles, there's of course Broncos-specific game planning, but how much time is dedicated to just getting on the same page.... not "hey, let's dedicate an entire day to the Dolphins instead", but putting in a few plays they might not use until then, things like that.

Same for defensive schemes, how much is going to change in two weeks... do players feel comfortable with their assignments, how much are they adjusting, etc.

Much like all the other bullshit that gets reported after a loss (omg, Kelce went to a baseball game), it's probably fair to suspect whatever they did last week isn't crazy uncommon practice... they mostly just played like shit and had several unforced turnovers.
